There have been a few turbo M20s in the past, but their costs are measured in thousands of pounds, not hundreds. You won't get anything driveable for less than three grand, IIRC. And since you're starting with a 316i, you've got all the necessary suspension and braking upgrades that will have to be done too.
Best check out the Forced Induction section of this forum for more info.

500 quid that wont even get you the turbo or ecu
on a tight buget you could possibly pull it off for about 2-3 grand if you do every thing ya self
at the minute mine stands me in at 10k plus
going fi can be an expensive experience but believe you me its worth it

Can these M20's be run on low boost with standard management (or is it M50's)
I drove a cobbled together turbo 325i many years ago 'apparently' running 240hp, tbh it was quite nice to drive.
No idea how long it lasted though.

felt so proud, even tried it with a E30 325i and got put in my place..
i have experianced this car first hand 10k is parts if you have to pay someone to build this it will be a whole heap more. good luck but i think with that small budget just pay ross to take you out in a real ass kicking car and you will soon realise what it costs and takesross2009 wrote:500 quid that wont even get you the turbo or ecu
