Hello all.

Been a while since I last posted here.

This summer/this year I'd love to get behind the wheel of my pride and joy. She needs some a lot of things doing to her, but I'll start with the rust that needs sorting as soon as possible.

It's got the usual areas that have been affected by rust. Nearside boot pocket gets full of water due to a hole.

Nearside scuttle rust, haven't got the nerve to poke it hard yet..

Lovely sunroof panel rust.

Arches are clean weirdly, there is a bubble on the offside rear arch, it's on the "to do" list, but I want to get the major stuff done first.

The problem is I'm away a lot of the time this year, so not a lot of time at home working on the car. Plus the fact Nissan have given me a Juke to travel in to PR events/races, the iS has just been sat on the drive since November.. I'd love to use it again in my spare time as a weekend summer car.

I understand this may not be possible, but is there any zoner in South Wales near Cardiff willing to take on this rust challenge? Or know of a garage.
Also I know its hard to predict, anyone know approximately how much I would be paying for this?

Friends have said I'm crazy to keep the "old banger" when I race a GT-R. Well you just can't beat your first car!

a tiny bit of advice- (for anyone with issues like that in earlier stages) bits like that, you could of nipped in the bud a while ago by putting a little bit of FERTAN on it,to just cure the rust a bit, and a bit of touch up paint on it , to just stop water /and it getting quite to that stage

some fertan and a tin of touch up paint from paints4u, is handy to have, for things like doing tiny chips and spots all around the car

even now you could apply fertan to just help the cause and prevent it getting worse and revert the process

Jann, the price will depend on how much rust is found in the places you can't yet see. It doesn't look too bad from the pictures in terms of rust but they aren't enough to be definitive about time/cost.

Good luck finding a helpful, skilled zoner. Once you do, you can get it sorted.

Beardymat is the member on here that comes to mind for the work. He certainly has the skills to do a first class job, but unfortunately he's right up in Sheffield. Might be worth contacting him though, and see what he says.
Pleased to see you're still with us on here, in spite of the meteoritic change in your life. I get feedback from my brother in law from time to time on what you're up to - heard all about the multiple fuel pump failures at Monza a few weeks ago, as I was at his house when he got back

I plan on keeping it for a long time, so I'll be on here a lot!
It was unfortunate that it did happen.. We turned things around with a pole at the Nurburgirng and a 3rd position in British GT last weekend. The car just needs a good test.

Hopefully we will move up the field again this weekend at Silverstone.

Jann, the rust does not appear to be too bad, but it is likely that you will have the usual E30 rot in the unseen places.

All can be repaired, I have an excellent body shop chap that i use in Bolton, mine was in a much worse state that yours and he did a very good job.
