Before i put her on Pistonheads I was wondering about it's fair potential value??

You'll be needing to post lots of pics, especially of any rust or dents, plus history before you get any sort of guide as to what its worth, up to then, any price will be meaningless.
5 doors? Is is a touring?

5 doors? Is is a touring?
Selection of BMW hardtops available, please ask!
All depends on the usual rust areas and what service history you have. Auto is less desirable as well as being a 5 door. The calypso colour is quite sought after though so its really up to how much someone would want to pay.
Im no expert but id say between 2 and 3k? Im sure someone will shoot me down but just a rough guess!

Hi guys wow!!! so quick! it is a 5 door saloon. This week i will get all the pics of the usual area's which E30's are prone to rust and corrosion! Battery tray, arches, front floor pan, front windscreen, sills etc etc!
not many dents at all maybe 2 tiny ones. rear offside arch has had a bodge at some point to prevent rust corrosion so that will need attention but the rest is very straight and original.
FSH, FLEW THROUGH LAST M.O.T

BBS ALLOYS / SUNROOF
LONG MOT AND TAXED
Here is a lovely, last of the line BMW E30 3 Series. This is a 325 SE, fitted with the automatic gearbox. This combination works really well. If you haven't driven an E30 for a while, you will be surprised how well the 2.5 straight six engine performs, lovely and smooth with an great engine note and its very responsive. This example is the final design of the E30, so you get extra factory bodywork options, like the front lower spoiler, the colour coded side skirts and BBS alloys. The interior gets the same facelift, with lovely light pinstripe seats, matching door cards and a two tone dash etc. This BMW is finished in Calypso Red Metallic. The paintwork is in lovely condition, which with this colour really makes the car stand out. The interior is completely unmarked and standard, including the original BMW overmats protecting the carpets and the original stereo etc. Another extra for these cars is the BMW BBS alloys, all in lovely condition including the spare.
The specification on this car includes PAS, ABS, Electric windows front and back, Electric mirrors, Electric sunroof, Central locking, Leather trimmed steering wheel, Front and Rear spoiler, Full toolkit, Original stereo and electric aerial etc.
This BMW is a real delight to drive. The engine and gearbox perform perfectly, everything feels nice and fresh. When you drive this car is clear to see that its been well maintained, there are no squeaks or rattles and the suspension feels excellent. This car benefits from a full service history along with old service receipts and old MOT's.
This car will put a smile on your face every time you take it out. It represents great value at the moment.
Its comes with a long MOT, its taxed, its ready to be enjoyed now !

My point being, if there's rust visible it means there's 9 times as much hidden under the carpets. So admitting the rear arch has some, and that it's been bodged, will make the price plummet.
If you do fix the paintwork properly then the price will be between 1500-2000; I can't imagine anyone paying more than that for a moredoor auto in the current market, but you never know. And I certainly wouldn't take pricing advice from Mr iS up there

Does it have any of the desirable extras: full electric windows (not just fronts), 13 button OBC (not 6), map light mirror, cruise control? It's those things that push the price up.

						grrrmachine is right
and sellers like oldcolonel sell pristine cars in outstanding showroom condition with 100% history low miles etc , and also because of tho they are they charge a premium, an e30 of the same spec but with rust and dings etc from a private seller will not command or fetch such a price
looking at ebay and piston heads etc is the easiest way to try value

I have been honest re the rear wing bodge, doesnt mean it can't be fixed!
Lets wait and see this weekend what we discover under all carpets and beneath car!!! Camera is fully charged! It is a garaged car so we'll see????
99.9% of these all rust somwhere chaps as we ar all to aware!!!!
Shame it's not a manual though!

Of course
Remember, this isn't a For Sale thread. If it is, it'll get locked very quickly because it's missing the two key ingredients; Price and Pictures. It's also in the wrong section.
So while we're purely in the valuation stage, I'm just offering honest advice, even if it's advice you don't want to hear.
When you've got access to both the car and a camera, work your way through these bits:
http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/Rust
If you can, also get the body kit off because most rust shockers lurk under there. And I know my rust; most of those pictures come from my own car

the market isnt awful, e30s do sell and nice ones sell fast and the money is out there/on here even for the right cars
but the moredoor auto market is not a desirable market and the rear arch- if its bad it might need a new inner arch too- inner arch+outer arch panels, then the cutting it all out and welding, then the painting- and the whole quarter will need painting either way, and that has to be blown in to the door, and depending on the condition of the rest of the paint work is how good it will match and look, talking a £600 job all in maybe- thats why you may struggle to sell it , the rest of the car and the history would have to be really outstanding for someone to want to bother on a more door auto

factory sport kit, do you mean an m-tec 2 kit or se side skirtsleigh wrote:I understand you point, and yes the market is awful.....
It has full obc, full E/W pack, ESR, arm rest, 15 inch bbs, factory sport kit, front fogs, not sure re cruise? Will call my aunt tnt!
I think SE side skirts! Look you lot let's see all the detailed pics I will take and give the old girl a chance???? May just be that rear outer arch that went! we shall see? Once it goes up for sale it will have a very honest description of all the areas which require treatment.
2 owner car since 1992 80k and excellent mechanics! TBA on the rust front. hopefully just rear battery tray a little rusty, thin and weak!!! (AS NORMAL)
If it was a manual I would keep it in the family but I already have an E46 M3 Manual to play with since I can't afford an E30 M3!!!!!!

You've posted 15 times in this thread, and you've got the fairest answers you're going to get. If you want to hear a value over 1000 pounds, you HAVE TO post pictures of the car with the fuse box up and the side skirts off. Until then, this car is just another one of a thousand sheds.
You say "only 78,000 miles", I hear "shoved in the garage for the last three years so all the bushes are perished".
You say "only one bit of rust", I hear "that you can see".
You say "it's got fogs and BBS!", I think "oh, so no leather, heated seats, aircon or cruise then".
Only pics of a nice shiny Calypso Red car on fresh tyres with no rust will prompt anyone to give you a sensible answer.

Are u anti German??? Bit harsh on any ultimate driving machine!!! Yes of course I would rather it be a mint Tech 1 sport but it is what it is. Rare colour and low owners and miles. Passed M.O.T last year with NO advsioies so not to worried really given the lack of rain we've had and the fact it's garaged.Grrrmachine wrote:500, based on the current fact that it's a rusty bodged-up slushbox moredoor turd.
