well, made a bit of a balls up really,
bought this above off ebay but not through ebay!
didnt get chance to test drive it and didnt thorughly inspect it bit lazy of me as i run a vw resto company! but it was cheap.
its a 318is but has had a 325 motor swapped in at some point..
seems to have the 318 lsd (tried the rev to 3k and drop clutch method as its more fun!)
found a few issues
viscus fan is slipping,
belt of front is slipping,
sunroof leaks badly (gonna seal it up as neatest solution)
door seals leak
hole is passenger floor after removing soaked carpet!
front fog doesnt work
speedo doesnt work and i suspect fuel guage doesnt either.
clutch is slipping and i get a nasty vibration in 2nd up (poss down to clutch slip i guess)
its going to be a road legal toy so was going to uprate things as i go, new bush's etc
main bonus is its got a scorpion system and a 6branch fitted, has good pads n discs, the is recaro interior is in good condition, front strut brace and ive fitted a carbon air fiter i had laying around...
quite like it stripped out at the mo, so may just paint the interior, get the dash flocked and add some harness's...
oh its lowered and im told it has a baffled sump so will remove it when i service it and replace the clutch!
just bought H874CNA off fleabay anybody know the car?

He means the car is stripped of the interior trim so it's mostly just exposed metal in the cabin.retrospeedshop wrote:quite like it stripped out at the mo, so may just paint the interior

Good on you for joining the E30 brigade! Must admit though, your car sounds like more of a track slag than a road-legal machine. Still, the Wiki's here to help if you need it.

That should give you plenty of stuff to think about
These are little things and fairly common. But deal with the viscous fan ASAP; if you overheat an M20B25 engine, it's pretty much dead.retrospeedshop wrote: found a few issues:

Keep looking. If there's one bit of Rust, there'll be others:retrospeedshop wrote: hole is passenger floor after removing soaked carpet!

Both common and simple fixes:retrospeedshop wrote: speedo doesnt work and i suspect fuel guage doesnt either.

This is the only part that sounds properly bad. If you're stripping the interior, get the headlining off and have a look at the sunroof cassette. If you're lucky, the rubber drain pipes have perished. If you're unlucky, the sunroof cassette has rusted and it's only a matter of time before the rest of the roof goes with it. I'd examine that before spending a single penny on any other part of the car:retrospeedshop wrote: sunroof leaks badly (gonna seal it up as neatest solution)

thanks buddy,
ordering a clutch and service parts today, so that can start the fun.
it came with a piper cross open filter with one main beam headlamp removed, so I swapped it for an enclosed carbon
jobbie as it deals with heat better, still runs to the missing headlamp but is alot neater.
sunroof panel has a couple of gaps in the seal so half expecting that to be the issue but I will pull the headlining it's damaged anyway, and check it for rust...
if I'm gonna run is without carpets etc then the paint inside will be freshened up, looks kinda tough with just 2 seats and the bulkhead etc showing!
fuel sender makes sense as the guy said it doesn't have much fuel but it's reading just
over half...
it will be a bit of a track refugee but it will also look nice while doing it.
