Hi looking for the all rd rear lights for a 91 cabriolet, I currently have smoked red and clear ones, but have gone off them and what to get the car a bit more standard looking, but don't like all the different lense clours on the originals, but at the same time, don't think lexus style or smoked suit the car, looks abit out of place, would look ok on a saxo or something but not a classic convertible.

Also approximate new and used prices would be good?

Would also be willing to do a part exchange with my smoked ones plus a little cash on top.

Thanks

Matt :)

Is the car definitely legal and safe to drive with these, I can't see how they can pass a mot with red reverse lights, is this because reverse lights aren't compulsory as some older cars don't even have them do they. Alkso wouldn't the indicators flash red?

I'm not too bothered about mot as I can put a standard set in when mot is due, but just wanted to know if there safe to drive with and if the police are likely to pull you in if you have them fitted?

Pete may be interested in these for 30, will have a proper look later on my laptop, as on my blackberry at the moment, so photos don't load properly on the forum for some reason.

Cheers

Matt :)

Reverse lights are not tested as part of a MOT. They work, just they are red. The indicators still flash orange. The lights are 100% legal and unlike some of the others posted, not overtly council ! :)

For A change, yours are more council than the set I'm offering, all the lights work and fuction in their correct colours, it's only a slight black tint, nothing heavy.

Ok, how much would it be I can supply lights if neceassary, or give me a price with you supllying lights and spraying aswell, waiting to hear back from Adi, but text him earlier and his internet is down at the moment.

Or do you think I should give it a go myself if I have 2 pairs of standard lights?

^ this! it's how you learn to do anything on the car! nice thin coats, clean the lights off really well and do it somewhere nice and warm and dry..

:D

Image

there's my effort (I masked off the bit with the reverse light in it.. I think it looks a bit blocky if you do the whole thing.. I like the OEM+ look! plus.. pink reverse lights = no.. )

I just cleaned them off with fairy liquid, gave them a good rinse and put them on a radiator till they were dry (really give them a scrub, any silicone or back to black or polish will make the finish crappo! )

then used the E-tech red spray from Ebay after masking the lights with masking tape over the reverse light and the reflector above and below... then I gave the can a bloody good shake and sprayed a light-ish coat on fairly fast, gave it 15 minutes to dry tacky (don't touch it) and put another one on.. making sure I got all the curves and running it over the edge... left it to dry for a couple of hours and whacked it back on the car.. (I have a low temp oven at work that is ideal for this!) took no time at all! also mask the tiny black plastic edge too.. it's attention to detail like that that makes the difference :)

Also has everyone thats fitted this painted the indicator bulbs green?

Or can you get away with it without? also has anyone ever been pulled with the lights like this?

I have never been pulled look at the link I put up theres a pic of mine jus as they flash look orangey , that is with painted green bulbs, when you use lacquer, lacquer them alot so the light flashes bright if you dont they indicate very dim. I used green glass paint tried the nail varnish didnt do alot, most arts and craft shops will stock this.

I didn't use any lacquer! :? you shouldn't need it!

also, lacquer will not affect the transparency of the lense.. just so you know..

Hmm I found it did affect transparency and before lacquer was applied they were dim when flashing but once applied they flashed alot brighter day or night.
