Have just got a 325i pre facelift gearbox and confirmed it to be a sport CR box via StuBeedoo's method below

This is copied directly from my owners handbook!........
325i 'box
1st 3.83
2nd 2.20
3rd 1.40
4th 1.00
5th 0.81

325i Sport 'box
1st 3.35
2nd 2.03
3rd 1.36
4th 1.00
5th 0.81

Therefore, best check would be to select 1st. If the input shaft turns >3 and 3qtr turns for one turn of the tailshaft, it's a standard box. 3 and a 3rd turns and it's a Sport 'box.

HTH
Stuart.

However the code on the bell housing is 000532 NN

which is not listed as being a sport gearbox?!

Can anyone explain this?

Wiki states that the Getrag 260/5 Sports gearbox will have a code ending in HM or TNN

Considering Getrag used both 2- and 3-letter codes to identify their boxes, I wouldn't worry about the missing T.
