wow... did you prep the lollypop at all??? was the earth clamp attached to a tyre?
not being funny but that is rubbish.. take the other bolt out and wallop it with a hammer, if it falls off then it's not suitable.. this is a stress load point of your suspension.. if this goes you are f*cked.. you want to gamble your life on this then so be it.. but don't say we didn't warn you!

bodes well for the lollypop weld! maybe, for safety's sake, get a qualified mechanic to have a quick gander at it before you take it out for a shakedown..BATTS91 wrote:yes I welded a nut on and it snapped again

who is going to want to get involved?..I'm a mechanic, been in this trade nearly 20 years..That repair is a total joke..Tom_Maverick wrote:bodes well for the lollypop weld! maybe, for safety's sake, get a qualified mechanic to have a quick gander at it before you take it out for a shakedown..BATTS91 wrote:yes I welded a nut on and it snapped again

Not being an 'expert' welder, but that bracket looks like a casting to me,do you not need a 'spchul' method to weld a casting to steel?BATTS91 wrote:i pronounce this job bodged !

all joking aside, I am advising you not to drive the car until you've had that weld looked at by a professional.. it's all very well having a crack at it yourself but you are not a mechanic and have very little mechanical knowledge so play it safe.. the last thing you want to do is end up in hospital or worse..BATTS91 wrote:do one what else is there to do then **** drilling that shit its **** now and ive gta re weld it now got a bugger hammer out oh well itll be fine

that does look better, it's not a bad looking weld by all accounts.. I'd still get someone to look at it..BATTS91 wrote:the bush is the same other side mate and this is better ?

With the full weight of the car on it first bump you hit at speed will knacker that
BMW put two bloody thick bolts through it rather than tack-welding it in place for a reason.
The only place you should be driving this is very slowly to someone who can repair it properly.
Agree with demlot - much as this is providing comedy value I don't want to see a zoner getting injured and writing off another E30 through this sort of bodge-fest.

well if a hammer can hit it off im not happy so having a smoke n gonna wack this i grinded it all off for that weld and ill be honest the first was totally sh!t so ive got more power and better penetration on this time we shall see i dont understand the problem someone else here mentioned welding theirs on and hasnt got abused ? !

Without seeing the penetration it's hard to tell, welds can look great but be holding nothing. For something as critical as that I'd be mocking up a test weld and nick-break testing it.BATTS91 wrote:the bush is the same other side mate and this is better ?
Usually for T welds I'd be putting another 3 overlapping lines over it.
