Good evening all,

Been a few months since i was last on here, been very busy with other projects. The sport is tucked away and covered up for winter, and i have a big list of jobs to complete before she comes out for summer 2012.

So heres my question, i never have been any good with exhausts so your help and opinions are appreciated. My tech II 325i sport currently boasts a standard exhaust system, the engine is standard (although i have a speedtouch chip) but i am wanting to replace the exhaust for something more... sporty :D

So, i DO NOT want it chavvy and loud and the same as a 3pot corsa on scaffold piping  i want it to show the powerfull sound of the 2.5 e30 block with class, I think the word is perhaps rawty? mean? sporty? perfomancy? rally ish?

Anyway, what exhaust systems and a rough price guide do you guys recommend? whats on your sport!

All the best, hope you guys had a good christmass too!

got a scorpion on mine, and it sounds absoloutly f**king awsome !! , a deep but not loud, soft rumble, when ticking over, and increases a bit when driving slow...but open it up and it goes with it and sounds fantastic

Sven, it is always the case that a sporty exhaust is a giggle to start with, but they are all noisy and become a drag after a while.

Scorpion systems are probably the loudest and therefore best avoided, frankly if you have an original system on there (Boysen) I'd stick with it

Oh my.. yes.. 8O

maybe best of doing a wanted add for a used one haha.

As for noisy and a drag.. i already get shaken to bits and have the music cranked up so i doubt that will be too much of a problem winkeye just aslong as its not chavvy 8)

true. i may have fitted in at McDonald's lately, but the completely separated and hanging freely rear silencer on my Touring is getting somewhat tedious

i can only comment on my one, as its the only one ive heard, but it sounds super, its only the backbox not the whole stainless system, but its definatly not overly or too loud or bad sounding, although i didnt put it on the car myself

Stumbled across this (Nice cab btw  )

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320530756510? ... 014wt_1139

Could probs go for the "quiet option". Seems fairly priced but I've no comparisons.

I'm looking for a nice system for my m52 but want to keep it fairly hush apart from when I give it the beans and the droaning "bwaaaaa" on the bypass/motorway gets on your nerves rather quickly.

I might pop down topgear in aylesbury as they deal with powerflow, apparently they do a good job.

That'll be why, it's usually the centre box on the scorpion system that blows the wadding out so it just ends up being a hollow tube and they boom/ sound throaty as feck

Simon 13's touring is one of the best sounding M20's i know of.

He has the RD manifold, a very hollow scorpion centre and and a scorpion rear. Sounds immense and has a resonance that sound like a "ring" at approx 5k rpm.

Oguz327's car also sounds great with a BTB2 manifold and scorpion centre and rear. Different to Si's but great.

I had a BTB2 with a sebring centre and scorpion rear, sounded ok but less bassy that the above two.

The centre and rear have been replace with genuine BMW parts and couple with the BTB2 manifold sound just right. A nice note but not a "look at me here i come!" loudness.

I'm running scorpion M3 system on mine and it sounds good, but sometimes you just don't want all that racket. Main reason for me using that though is the 50mm pipes and the rear silencer is not too large, as chromies need all the help they can get disguising all the guts hanging down the back end with the smaller rear panel they have.

When I bought my Alpina it had the 2 piece BMW Sport exhaust that you have on yours. A fantastic exhaust that you shouldn't change unless it is faulty in any way IMO!

If you really want to move away from the excellent standard set up, Supersprint exhausts are VERY good - excellent quality, nice but not too intrusive noise and built to last. Not cheap though. I had one on my 320is and I'd definately buy another:

Sebring! Not a common choice, but I'm not surprised was they are quite expensive.

Sounds similar to mine, Griffin Motorsports manifold, had the scorpion center cut out since it was done and made a tin-y sort of hum or ring, and a scorpion rear. Nice rumble at idle, and doesn't really make start to howl until around 4.5k or more.

Here we go. Hopefully not making a fool of myself with false claims. You got me wondering, now. Tried to find something about the manifold on the internet, but can't seem to get any leads, so just going by word of mouth...

Taken after being blasted and primed before some high temp coats. Mild steel so didn't want them to rot under header wrap, just a subtle black in the engine bay.

I take it you can confirm its origins/make as being Griffin Motorsports then?? What exactly makes it so, how to identify one as such? Makes me feel a little more secure after spending the £350 for it :)
