My Head Rebuild - With Pictures

The timing belt jumped and the all the exhaust valves bent. Only 2 of the inlet velves were leaking so only relplaced them to keep the cost down.

It was in my friends car garage, took me from the 31st to the 9th to get the car home. Not bad considering i wasnt working on it every day. Only had minimal help doing it too

rocker cover removed, no compression on any pistons.

the part that fucked my engine! turns out the timing belt tensioner disintigrated! note the lack of anything inside it! lol

pistons seem undamaged, originally thought the couges out them were from the valves but then looking properly its just the shape of the pistons.

Bent valves, all the exhaust ones were gubbed. Pouring petrol in the inlet to see which valves were leaking and only the 2nd, 3rd and 5th were bent so happy days.

woo hoo! nice shiny new valves in!

and all fixed in place with the funny clip things. Doing the first 1 took me about 5 mins, then once i worked out how to do it the rest went in in seconds.

and the rebuild only took 6 days! lol well was more like 2 actually. Wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be!

Got my baby home! Took an extra day to sort out all the wee daft problems like things i hadnt tightened up properly, etc.

Pretty satisfying to do, dont fancy doing one again anytime soon! I spend an entire day sanding the block and head! lol

Nice one. Those pics look all too familiar to me. Ive been working each weekend for the last month so havent had a chance to get near mine.

How long would it have taken in total? Thinking about doing my gaskets (rocker/head/sump/timing/oil filter/cooler)

Sorry to put a dampener on your rebuild but I wouldn't be to happy with the corrosion so close to the metal cylinder sealing rings on the head gasket, hard to tell properly from the pictures ?

yeah i know, it was a bit dodgy! just used some of the red sealant stuff for it, dunno what it is but i used it when i did my 205.

rule #1: never use any sealant on head gaskets.......
rule #2: wear gloves!

Well done mate, a good job well done. I was daunted faced with the task of doing mine, but I took my time and was really anal about everything and it all came right.

it wasnt like just a sealant, it was proper stuff for use on heat places.
