I bet that is just the glass, cheap shite glass at that.
Autoglass are nothing but ripoff merchants, I was quoted over £1,000 for a Daf 7.5 tonner screen, the next quote I got was £350...
Local windscreen man quoted me £80 for a quality brand E30 screen, will be taking him up next time I need one

Thats trade price and some really, but you should be aboe to get a new screen (decent brand) for at least £100 cheaper.BATTS91 wrote:wow DanThe thats very cheap comapred to what i was just told is that an average price for an independant screen fitter or just this particualer guy , i presume this is without fitting of course , i trust myself to take it out but putting in hmmm another story imo
A wanted ad should find you a good second hand screen for about £20, easy to fit if you get the correct tool for refitting the filler strip which is about £6 off eBay

Don't recommend using Fairy. It contains a lot of salt, and it's not good to permanently trap this between the rubber and the screen flange.BATTS91 wrote:ahh brilliant one of those tools and some fairy

Place the cleaned seal onto the frame of the carBATTS91 wrote:..... i trust myself to take it out but putting in hmmm another story imo
Place the 'screen into the bottom of the seal, check that it is central
Using your fingers, lift the seal over the 'screen, check that it is central
Using soft soap(send your 'er indoors to a tyre fitter wearing a short skirt and killer heels)ease the locking strip in.

I had my E34 done through the insurance a couple of years ago by RAC Windscreens, I priced a screen and complete trim which comes in 3 pieces from the dealer and it came to over £400, my glass policy was up to £350 and RAC did it inside of this, I told them it had to be a genuine screen and trim and thats exactly what I gotBlitz wrote:I was quoted £800 for my E34 by Autoglass.

The trims have to go in when the glass does, so if you get them changed outside insurance the screen would have to come out again! The trims up the side go brittle and can split, they should be quite soft. The reason I had new glass/trims fitted was because it had been changed in the past by cowboys (possibly autoglass) who used cheap shit glass that was horrible to look through and the top trim was sticking up and causing wind noiseBlitz wrote:Do the trims really need to be replaced because I have to get mine changed outside insurance?DanThe wrote:I had my E34 done through the insurance a couple of years ago by RAC Windscreens, I priced a screen and complete trim which comes in 3 pieces from the dealer and it came to over £400, my glass policy was up to £350 and RAC did it inside of this, I told them it had to be a genuine screen and trim and thats exactly what I gotBlitz wrote:I was quoted £800 for my E34 by Autoglass.
