Abuse for having an e30
Moderator: martauto
Just got in from work where my boss spent a good 30 minutes pissing himself laughing at the white 25 year old bucket of shit i just bought. After showing him a few immaculate euro E30s he still couldnt see the point in buying a vehicle more than 5 years old and said there wasnt cool element about the shit heap. I was kinda pissed off and basically said id prove him wrong, which i will when i get back from worthersee next year with an official nurburgring time.
Anyone else have issues with being slagged or people not seeing the appeal of these wonderful cars? Who the fuck doesnt love a big old german tank.

Yeah my parents thought the same thing about my iS.
For some reason my mum said it looked like a typical "grandad car"....
She liked the e36 that I bought her after that though
I've promised them that the next car I buy WILL be an E30 and it WILL be a rusty one.....they weren't very impressed....

Don't worry about it, my missus gives me grief over the 2 on the drive, and the E21, and that's locked up

If you Got "Haters",Then your doing something Right!
CR24v??? Where's it all gone?? LOL
a mate was well into his e36 m3's, in fact he was so into them he'd had many & founded a website in favour of such beast.
One day I finally persuaded him & took him out for a baz in the e30
after watching his grip on the door handle grow from fierce to that of petrified, he how owns a tech1 325
there is really no reason to be in the least bit concerned if people so much as scour at your 20yr old vehicle, let alone have he deluded opinion to pass judgement

Yeah one of the technicians at college wasn't very fond of them and called them "Overpriced and expensive shit things"
I weren't going to bother talking him around as he's pretty ignorant so just called him a nob. He made me rivet and rivet again and again until they was all perfect...

Yeh I was seeing a girl (typical valleys girl) and she hated my e30, said it looked like a grandad car and didnt understand why I got rid of my 106 gti
then on the other hand my parents and every one i worked with thought the opposite, thought it was lush and a real nice old car
some people have taste.... some dont haha

Each to their own. Find out what car he's got (silver diesel Skoda Octavia, probably) and then every day tell him:
"oh, I thought it was you on the way to work, but once I finally overtook the silver diesel skoda octavia, I saw it was just another pensioner*, they all look the same, you know, typical boring shit that doesn't stand out. Don't get me wrong, they're nice cars if you're too busy to have any taste, they just fit into the background, you know, safely boring, perfect for middle-aged old... oh, sorry John..."
Do that every day, only replace "pensioner" with "hairdresser", "estate agent", "housewife" etc, and he'll finally get the point.

verde your boss sounds like a bit of nobend! i only buy 1990 or older cars because there way more stylish fun to drive cheap ect.. my mother is the only one who is against the retro machines here at home as my father and brother
are also in to vintage/classic tractors cars bikes ect..
i have to laugh at her she traded a 03 corolla with 55.000 miles on it for a new yaris (peice of crap) and gave 7000 euro with it!
were as the most ive ever spent is 800 euro
and that was on the e30! my other classic the mk3 granada only cost me 300 euro with 2 years nct (mot over here) and it had full service history! its been the most reliable car ive owned!
id take a classic car over a new car any day! as they will still be here in 20 odd years time while the new dirt will be in the scrapy due to obsolete electronic failers!

Luckily when I turned up in the E30 my G/f (who is only 21 and so not particularly knowledgeable about cars.. or so I thought) said it was damn sexy and suggested she might like to offer her services as hood ornament.. ideal.. found out later her dad is a classic german car nutbag with a Carrera and some other old heaps stashed away around the place so a love of old Krautwagens obviously runs in the family..
My boss took the p*ss a little bit but quite frankly nothing compares to my mk2 granada on hydro's.. after that everything seems pretty normal..
I don't really care what people think.. it's my car.. f**k 'em..

I got a lot of grief for buying my e30 after having my E36 328 sport saying i downgraded and its a grandad car blah blah blah. But after i took them for a spin with the new engine they're opinions changed completely lol dumb f*cks!

Like i said when i saw u last week, people slag em until they have a drive in one and then they realise how the e30 is a great cruising car...
E30 Crazy!
tell your boss to stop being a bell lol. any car 5 years old or less may rolling in comfy town but theyre boring as feck and to most average people who arent on top money, on the tick. at least we own our shitcans. most new cars nowadays are boring, lost in a sea of 3 colours, white, black or silver.
E30s are getting on a bit but at least he noticed it.

Morat its true... I have always loved e30s but when i drove one, i wanted it right away
Older people like them as there the own bullet proof engines and cars that dont go wrong (lol better hope they dont see the tech section on the zone)

haha i like the idea of a pay rise. he called it a shit bucket. i was like " if u gave me more hours id be able to fix the fuckin thing. " he drives one of the new civics, its a 2.5i. my boss is an absolute hero and i love him to bits ( he was a friend before boss ) but he has no taste in cars
When I was searching for an E30, and telling my mate about some of the bad ones I'd seen, statements like, "keep your money in your pocket" and "a fool and his money is easily parted" were being bandied about.
But I knew I wanted one, and now I've got one, he has turned up suspiciously often, to "inspect" my purchase!!!
He drives a Range Rover Sport and never has anything long enough to have an MOT , but I suspect he likes my E30 without actually admitting it.
My mum is 60, and she loves it, but then she's loved all of my 40+ cars over the years!! most of them classics!

Are you going to Worthersee then the 'ring?
Worthersee is awesome. Are you going around the VW show? Second year for me, you wont be disappointed if so....
A lot of people don't get old cars. They'd much rather buy an off the shelf 'appliance' than drive something with character. More fool them....

As for your friend with the rangerover i think he is a bit jealous! Let him have a shot and see what he thinks. I think my boss is just jealous of how hardcore a well done e30 is, something that will make the lads at the pub on the other side of the bar ( not my boss though ) congratulate me on a nice car unlike his shitbag civic

i think he is jealous. cars nowadays have no quirky characteristics. they just break outright :p

well not spend the best part of half an hour telling me id wasted money on an absolute bucket of shit hed happily set on fire. thought he would atleast be man enough to say, not my cup of tea but good luck. people get on at my generation for not appreciating classics and being out of touch with past greatness and it can be the exact oppositeKos wrote:e30's are old

your exactly right. first thing i noticed when i sat in my e30 was the cockpit, all the centre console is positioned facing me, its a car FOR driving. not driving kids to school, not pissing around, its a drivers car. dont see that much now, sharp looks that shout oi, look at me. unlike his civic that goes look at me, im made of plastic and offensive to the eyesNinja_Penguin wrote:i think he is jealous. cars nowadays have no quirky characteristics. they just break outright :p
