Not really been able to work out my mpg yet due to speedo not working and using sat nav

but red light just came on 2 mins before the garage friday, i put in 14.84 litres @ 134.9 a litre £20

2 journeys exact same of 55 miles- drove roughly 110 miles taking it easy no wasting fuel, and red light came on 2 mins from garage again

an online mpg calulator just said thats 33.7 mpg

does that sound about right ?

quite pleased with that tbh

Mine is high comp non sport. On legal speed (more or less) motorway runs with a recent service I can get 34mpg so yours sounds spot on.
These are sensations as hard to forget as they are to ignore.....

cheers lads, i was expecting it to be lower tbh, around town/giving it some, obviously drinks a bit more, but that was 2 runs of 55 miles exact same, bit of town-motorway-town-city, driving, kept to speed limits and didnt accelerate or break hard just drove nice and gentle, and £10 a trip to my new place of work, isnt too bad at all, happy that i can achieve 34mpg !!

Christ, that's good going! I used to get a constant 28mpg from my 320, and can't get higher than 35mpg from my E36 323 (vanos 2.5). Makes me want an E30 325 even more now :(

I did a calculation on mine (high comp 325i with 1.3 motronic) on a long run and got 37!

General ragging and town driving sees about 5/6 miles per litre though.

I just checked mine 325i Sport Tech1 for £10 of unleaded (not superunleaded) i get about 25 miles just over that. If you do the mathematics this works out just over 15mpg and nearly 18.5litres/100km. Mainly city driving and blipping it everywhere and very short journeys.

The on-board computer was reading about 19litres/100km.

PS
it is no fun cruising.

Biggest difference I've found on M20s is length of journeys - if it never geets fully hot, ie not just the coolant gauge, it will give cack mpg. 35 on a run is to be expected. I was getting high teens on my 8-mile commute though, in the 320 before it got smashed to bits. 325s are often etter because they can pull the higher final drives they are fitted with. Top gear on a 320i 4.1 diff gives more than 10mph per 000 revs, utter pants unless you cruise everywhere at 55.

this !! find local journeys and nipping here n there, it guzzles the fuel, the 50 mile round trip to work its ok, im finding the car quite juicy really (i know i expected it anyway) but its a bit worse around town/nipping about than i expected, and coz of its juicyness im finding im driving a lot with fuel on mind and not giving it a bit of welly much/accelerating in the "bring a smile" to the face way as much as id like, and pottering along motorway at 65mph , but its nice to cruise in all the same, but next year it will be a "pleasure" drive car,and not driven so much, and driven in a more enjoyable way, and not for work etc

imo with todays fuel prices your daft trying to run a b25 as a daily car, i made that mistake the hard way, very hard way. wish i never sold my 318is :( i now have a 4 grand tech 1 sport with a blown up engine and have spend over a grand easily on new engine, new gear linkage, serviable bits, labour etc etc.   at least mr magpie has come to the rescue and all is being fitted in 2 weeks time. i recon the car will easily owe me 5-6 grand the time i put it up for sale :(

My daily is a mk5 golf 1.9tdi, just had it remapped to 150bhp with something like 330nm torque, it would certainly give a 325i a run for its money i would think. plus i get 45-50 mpg and i boot it everywhere :D 480 miles to £70 :D

Certainly I big eye opener when you move from a 325i to something like that, I couldn't believe the difference when I got my Leon FR TDi!

Now if there was a 6 speed box you could fit to an M20 that would make a huge difference to cruising economy

dont regret selling my is but the fuel drinkage compared is quite an eye opener 8O , as its not to be my daily, if it was and i was relying on thyat soley...i would of regretted selling my is definatly, once next spring comes and its garaged, nice, and driven just for pleasure and "a drive" it will be superb, £20 in that and watching it drink away will be for pure fun, and not watching the needle drop quicker than a tarts draws ! :) 8O

Modern diesel hot hatch in better fuel economy than antique 1970s designed 6 cylinder engine shocker...

I never really believed people when they used to say the old E30 325i roadcars used alot of petrol i mean compared to the M52TUB25 in the E46 323Ci there is a fair difference in fuel consumption.

The E30 the noise is great. I am pretty sure people know mine round here now as you cannot not hear it especially through tunnels and bridges. These E30s definetely like a using alot of petrol. I am sure it is not far off running a BMW M3 CSL/Porsche 911/Ferrari 360/Ferrari 458 Italia in terms of petrol??

Re:
Alex you got 2 Sports. How come you had two? Shame you got to sell it as you clearly put alot of hard work/money into it. If you can find a way of keeping it keep it.
