I've removed the rear shelf as i need to change the rear speakers. With the shelf removed theres 2 ovalish shaped lumps of metal with hols one of which is threaded. What is this for?? its getting in the way of the speakers and i thought of drilling out the spot welds to remove it, thats if its not important?

Is there 2 types of shelfs? The one in the pic I've posted is recessed where the speakers are in a rectangle shape but mine is fairly plain and level
