The time has come to start thinking about letting the e30 go.

What its worth? I have no idea! Hopefully you could give me some clues!

Its a 91 on a H plate with a little over 150k on the clock.

Original MTech 2 parts from the factory including bumpers & trim, 15" BBS cross spokes, interior parts, recaro's , suspension.

It was resprayed approximately 5 years ago in its original colour, body work is in very good condition! HPI clear.

I swapped the original engine for an m44 (pretty sure i was the first to do on this forum) with only 45k on the clock about 6 years ago. Since then the engine has run perfectly for about 15k. All the m42 intake, management etc is original so it looks completly stock. It has a panel filter and machined larger throttle body. Custom exhaust with twin upswept pipes (do have a complete standard to go with the car). It put out 144 on the rollers which isn't bad for an old girl! Original engine can go with the car (timeing chain snapped on this though & was not repaired).

Numerous items have been recently replaced, suspension, wishbone & roll bar bushes. Clutch master cylinder. Serviced with new plugs & fluids. Mot'd last month and passes with flying colours. Guy said he hadn't seen a car as tidy underneath for the age. Completely waxol'd everything years ago and has really done the job.

Cons... e36 M3 replica 17" rims lol :-) The 15's tyres needed replacing and a friend let me have these for £100. They can go with the car along with the X spokes.

Anyone got any ideas? Don't have to sell it for money, just to clear a space on the drive so if its not worth that much i'll keep it :D I can give you more info if you need it. Anyone interested let me know! lol

£1900 - £2000 if it is as tidy as you say it is IMO, seems to have had alot of pennies spent on it and a spare set of 15" BBS 8)

any 318IS in good nick seems to be worth at least £1500, so yours should get around the 2k mark

Modified cars are worth the sum of their parts....

Your intended victim, therefore,is a guy who really wants this type of E30,but cannot tell the difference between a spanner and a spoon!

Best of luck with the sale,I investigated fitting a later 4 cylinder engine into an E30 to make an 'er indoors friendly car a while back, but received little practical help....

Not true in my experience modified cars are worth far far less than the value of parts fitted to them.

spose its only worth what someone will pay,ive been looking at ones for sale/sold, il stick my neck out and say because of the engine swap...it will be worth less than a standard nice is

the kit- if theres proper paper proof the car left the factory with the kit, it might not de value, if theres no proof...id guess that would mean its presumed by buyers not factory and just been added on, which might de value as such

mish mash cars are not worth nice standard money

Got to agree with Pac here I'm afraid but scrapping it would be criminal if it is good

Analysing what Mick said here:

My car is worth less now: Wrong, M50'd E30 is worth more than a boggo (ish) IS

I know what it cost me so far: Is that all the conversion parts only or everyting including the car?

I've sold all the parts I took off it to pay for all the new parts: IIRC you bought a complete package off Lee Parkes? You sold all your IS bits seperately so value will probably be more for your M42 bits - As parts?

If you broke up your M50'd car magpie you would get more money than selling it whole due the the morsels....

I think what Pac means is:

a boggo IS and tech II kitted IS for example (in the same condition) will fetch approx the same price but if you break the tech II kitted car you will more than likely get more as spares?

Am I right :?

My point is,a modifed car will not sell, under normal conditions, for an amount that refects the spend on building it.

BUT,if you break it,you are more likely to recover more of your spend.

OK,there are exceptions to every rule,if Joe Soap, who is clueless about spanners but owns a thick wallet, wants a car of a particular spec,he/she will be prepared to pay the rate to have one built, but when Joe Soap get's fed up with his toy,he WILL lose a wallet full when he try's to sell.

Dos'nt stop you or I building cars for our own use,as far as I am concerned,at least half of the fun is in the building!

i agree, looks like a lovely condition e30 and not being a genuine sport- ripe for an engine conversion

be interesting on the comments on the sticker/limited edition from the gurus on here, whats the paperwork you have and whats its say exactly regarding that ?

Lo mate, its been a while! How you been?

The paper i have in the records is a printed A4 sheet, kind off a one pager that was slipped in with the brocure in the showroom. Basically saying its an IS with all the extras that a sport had.

My god mum bought it off one of the top cops in kent back in 1998 ish. He had it from new and was his wifes car. The story they gave my god mum was at the end of the e30 production period before they went over to the e36 they made these limited edition IS 'sports'.

Now im not sure if this was to use up parts or to make them more appealing and generate more sales with the e36 round the corner... or its complete B/S! lol
