Peel off the back and stick it on. Cleaning the old adhesive off the bonnet first isnt fun.

Ahhhh even better!!! Sticky back for the win!!!! Did this to my then Mercedes a year or two back and you had to paint the glue on which was a pain and we were as high as kites afterwards doing it inside the garage!!!

£38 from the dealers. :) Easy to fit... Getting the old off isnt too hard either. bss325i has a good guide on how to remove it on here somewhere.

I have a part no that goes as follows: 51 48 1 972 245 http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E30/T ... 2%C2%A0245

Is there a difference between the above listed part no for a m42 and the one i listed for m40?

When you remove the old deadening put a bed sheet across the engine bay to catch all the bits, unless your taking the bonnet off :)

Acetone should to the trick nicely along with gentle heat to remove the old remaining glue :)

Having said that it could potentially damage your paintwork if left on for too long to if used too much.....
I'd say dab some onto a towel and use it that way very lightly and very sparingly.......

I made the same mistake with GUNK degreasant....
Brushed it onto the entire engine bay without reading the info thinking it would be paint freindly and it ruined the laquer on the paint in the engine bay... :x :x :x :x It became dull and very sorry looking...... :(

Take your time and be careful, the backing is proper sticky and you can easily ruin it :o:
Previously owned loads of old E30s, E34s, a few E36s, E32s, E39s and an E38.

Currently in a diesel Audi - miss me old E30's....
