Anyone else fancy a laugh?!

Only complete bellends will sell their car to them lol, I suppose its how they make their money by blatently knocking people..... Anyone who knows anything about cars would obv laugh as did mr impreza above and mr mk1 golf, even with 220k on the clock we all know a decently specked, good condition sport is worth a shit lot more than a measly £120
A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better winkeye :D

I'm not defending them but if you understand the business plan they work to it does make sense.

They buy a car and send it to the nearest auction. Pricing is purely against CAP which is reasonably accurate for new vehicles but as soon as you look at 10+ year old cars its hopeless. They do not sell to the public or through retail channels. In order to make money they need to sell the cars within the shortest possible time so their cash is tied up for the shortest time, reducing interest costs.

On that basis the ideal vehicles they are buying are 2-5 year old cars with low mileage that will be snapped up by traders who will shift them on to the public.

I know someonw who sold to them - 55 plate 530D SE - don't recall what he got for it, but he needed shut of it fast - it had a big bill coming for a fuel leak issue (again details sketchy, but as I recall it was a fault BMW were aware of). WBAC took it in and examined it once a price was agreed.

in the contract they have something like 48 hours to go over it and if they find anything nasty they cancel the deal.

Funny thing was that as soon as they had taken it in one of the mechanics was walking out to the car with my mate and said to him "go on then mate we've bought it now, what's up with it?"

Fortunately he'd read the small print and so said "nothing"

at the end of the day, they are true to their word, they "will buy any car", just don't expect to be happy with the price they offer you if you have anything older than about 3 years as this is the market they are aiming for.

They want to be selling fairly new cars which are going to give less hassle for them with warranty claims etc, so a 1 year old Kia Picanto spunkbox is probably a lot more desirable to sell straight on and have no comeback from the buyer, rather than a 20+ year old E30 slowly rotting away and an utter liability for any trader to sell.

They don't want to buy our rotting scrap but have to make an offer just for the sake of their name.

A work mate sold his E46 318i a couple of years ago to them for the same as they were going for on the private market, win winfor him as all he did was drive down there drop the car off and get paid what he wanted. If you have a car they want at the time they will pay the going rate.

Hi all :D (waves hello)

I'm a newbie on here, but had to read this, I thought they were just having a laugh with me, seems I'm not the only one.

I ask for a price on my daily use 70's beetle I had, they didnt offer me anything, they said no! Obviously dont buy any car. Sold it a month later for a grand. Funny though as on the original add one of the cars pictured was an old beetle............. go figure ?!?!

Hi :D
Not yet, but it is my plan, wanted one for years now but never done it. Selling my car, most of my possessions on ebay and cycling to work to save for an E30 and I cant wait, should have a nice one on the drive in a few months if things go well.

I'll be on here quite a bit now absorbing everyones advice on them.

xx

Put your cars through the standard Wednesday night auction at Shotts or any other motor auction and see what they do - marginally more than the webuyanycar values.

Try putting in a three year old, low mileage Vecdeo to webuyanycar and you'll get a reasonable offer taking into account the fact that it's quick and painless. You could get more, no doubt, but you'd be advertising, dealing with tossers etc. etc. It works for some, it doesn't work for old or classic cars. Quite simply, they don't want your rotten old shitbox of an E30.

Ask Old Colonel to bid on the three year old Vecdeo and you'll get even more derisory offers than you'd get from them for your minty fresh E30 - and that's saying something.

They don't want your immaculate E30 M3 with 10,000 miles on the clock either! They're part of a 'pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap' second hand car business, selling dross to the masses.

we buy any car, is a company set up by a car supermarket (Carcraft),

they buy cars for peanuts from desperate owners and sell them on usually for double in their car supermarket !!
if you are given a poor offer it's because they don't want it/cant supply 50%APR finance on it !
