hello all, been buisy building the new house havent been on this in ages,im shocked to see the few stickie about robbed cars and parts didnt think the e30s were really the car of choice for robbing ,sickings me this as i was conned my self last month i purchessed a tec2 325i thatturns out it had been stolen 6 months before, had full service history ,full tax book,2 keys and alarm fobs ,and a all clear hpi check buy the prev owner,i fixed the car it had electical fault and wouldnt start,booked in for mot it failed on rear brake hoses got it rebooked for test ,decided to put it up for sale to see if any intrest for sale,got a call about the car gave out my address as i knew nothing of this,the police lands out to my house takes the car im now outta pocket

not best pleased about this as you can amagine ,police said it in the hands of the insurance company im just put on the long finger
i know this is a long shot but do you think il be givin the chance to buy the car back or is it tough luck

i would say tough luck im afraid unless the original owner wants to get rid
its only right that he or she gets it bk just bad luck your stuck in the middle and out of pocket its soooo wrong

police man was dead on,he told me the car was stole on the test drive ,the owner drove the car down the road but the buyer wanted a drive owner got out buyer hopped over and left him on side of road, police man did say fella was looking the car back ,was on to the fella i got it of hes a trader and he talking about getting my money back he gonna claim of the hpi crowd for his money ,sickings me as the site im on is really nasty im getting all sorts of crap said about me selling stolen goods , boils my blood as i have never stole anything in my life,and its so easy to type shit on a computer and post it about someone

You stand well to get your money back if you bought from a trader.

The car technically belongs to the insurance company if they paid out for the theft claim, so the best suggestion here is the trader buys the car from the insurance company and then gives the car back to you.

Interesting to read 'the other half' of a stolen car saga.

Assuming that the OP bought in all innocence via a dealer,it does put the onus on the dealer to make things right with you.

As always,'buyer beware',I guess is the lesson to be learnt.

update on this the trader bought the car of owner he got paid cheque for it ,owner reported it stole and went to australia paid twice for car if i may say and i at end of the raw deal,cops looking for owner but he still outta country ,i tell you it helps not looseing it with the police when in the siuation i still getting fobbed of but at the same time i am getting info on it
