The GSF man told me they have quite a lot of returns on Brembo discs!

Never had an issue with ECP to be honest. I always check and double check the part numbers before leaving (have been given the wrong stuff in the past).

The knowledge of the average staff member is better than that in Currys or Dixons tbh.

I would say however, that for parts I've looked up more recently ECP was significantly more expensive than GSF.

I'm glad they and GSF exist otherwise we'd be paying full dealer prices or any buying and old rubbish from Halfords.

I find your enthusiasm for a company who view you as little more than a trained monkey operating a catalogue system completely unfathomable. All this talk about 'we' - is it a co-operative or something?

Just goes to show - I think both GSF and Euros both sell rejects and all kinds of dodgy branded stuff.

Mind you, I had a set of new rear discs fitted in Germany by a BMW dealer in Munich and they failed massively with massive cracks after a week - go figure.

I have to admit i have had better experiences with GSF than ECP, plus GSF do tend to be cheaper and i have never had any quality issues with GSF parts either.

Despite them being further away its so much cheaper to go there, plus whenever i need parts ECP are always out of stock, always walking into GSF and walked out with the parts.

I personally think Euros car parts are very good, But I only buy the likes of lemforder, KWP and Nissin, so the quality is spot on.

Add to this I get a very very good discount, I really can't complain.

Personally, i've been using ECP for the past couple of years for most of my parts, never had a problem with anything. As for pagid brakes, well, you get what you pay for. If your throwing the car round a track and braking like you've got a pair, then no, pagids don't cut it. But for every day driving on the street, they do the job fine. I couldn't care less about where they're made, as long as it keeps the costs down. Can almost garantee that ALL cars are fitted with something made in china out of the factory. Thats just my opinion.

I sometimes wonder if GSF's stock consists of about 3 DIY shelving kits from the local B&Q, generally, you can get better deals from ECP, depends who you know and how big a customer you are. As ive said before though I get better help/advice from GSF which is why I use them, anything in a VTech box stays on the shelf though!

ECP section on the zone would be a massive bonus for everyone involved IMO

trained monkey?! spare me. I was approached by them, started as an s/a and have risen to sales manager in less than a year. And my wage now affords me alot more than a bunch of banannas, hence my new ride. So If its unfathomable to you why I should be passionate about a company that has been so good to me, after 5 years hard slog at vw for fuck all then thats your problem pal!

and if you think the catalogues are easy think again, they are good, but a good advisor will always take the time to doublecheck on the dealer cats before sending parts out, we take pride in our returns rates!

Realoem or bmw fans are free for all, so if you go in with your partnumbers ready then surely all will be fine? after all, monkeys can do it cant they?

Is there any chance of you transferring to the Ipswich branch then? I personally like ecp because they can supply O.E parts quickly and cheaply.

BUT...... my local staff would not know the difference between a alternator and there arse hole, I ring with a registration number and/or a chassis number and order the parts. 5 times out of 10 I get the wrong part.

Also there refund policy on faulty parts is a nightmare!! I have been waiting since Christmas for a re fund on not one but two faulty steering racks.

I was ripped off by ECP a while back.

When parts (air filter and a small rubber pipe seal thing) were ordered, the specific instruction was given, "please bring change I only have a twenty quid note" and they turned up with no change. They said they would bring some later in the day, a total of about eleven quid. Never showed up. Called the office, didn't know what I was talking about, and wouldn't bother chasing up a cash payment error anyway.

If you have the paperwork still I would take it back and get a refund! if you signed for it there will be a record of the delivery on file.

warranty claims can be frustrating, but I assure you the percentage of faults is low, compared with the volume we sell!

Euros can be real annoying! The best thing to do is find a smart guy/gal in there and just ask for him/her when you ring up. Because some of them can be so retarded. I was asking about a Bosch high pressure diesel pump on a Combo and he's asking me is that the one on the engine? You could tell he never had a clue! When I ring up if I've never heard the voice before I ask for someone else lol

I'm sure all he was checking is if you wanted the lift pump in the tank, or injection pump, just to be sure. Not every customer knows exactly what they want, which can and does cause problems too!

I couldn't really give two shts about the £11, just ticked me off that the guy on the phone was told about change and didn't make the point to the delivery guy (screw up #1) then the delivery guy didn't bring change like he was told (screw up #2) and then said he'd come back later in the day (lie #1) and didn't (screw up #3) before I had to phone up and be told they didn't know about the order (lie #2) and that they wouldn't sort out something that had been paid for in cash (screw up #4) - so it's like, how wrong can you get a single transaction?!

On the plus side, the parts were correct, they were cheap, and they were delivered very quickly.

We have access to the most common manufacturers parts catalogues, and have our own catalogues too. If checking these doesn't find anything or we still aren't sure if its the right bit we have specialist product managers on the phone or email to help us try to source whatever it is you need! the tools are there...

You know the first two pages of this I could pretty much replace the words GSF and ECP with whichever generic Nancy-boy football team you support and the word part with "generic over payed tart of a footballer". This is pretty much what this thread sounds like. You all like what you like, you take your pick and pay your money.

At the end of the day, are you lot really silly enough to look a gift horse in the mouth if this chap can set up some zone friendly parts ordering for us?

Actually, why am I asking???

Can't say i've ever had an issue with ECP in Milton keynes, GFS is a bit of hassle to travel to as it's in Luton, and I really dislike going into Luton. Although my brother in law owns a car garage so orders the bits in for me on trade price and get most delivered same day from either supplier so as long as they're the right bit, doesn't bother me.

Basic trade discount to start, if it works and the monthly spend moves in the right direction your discount will get better! however, I will always give kick ass deals for big orders and group buys.

I think it's very harsh to slag off ECP. Customer service and quality of staff is going to vary from each branch.
My local one is good to me. I always get trade price, majority of parts are of good o.e quality and are the correct part.
At some point you're going to get the wrong part or a part that isn't a good enough quality. But you can't expect to pay less and get o.e quality 100% of the time. Infact our genuine parts supplier for our work get parts wrong or parts incorrectly packaged. Which also brings up a point that sometimes it's not the branches fault. Parts sometimes are packed wrong or a batch of products are produced not as high quality as it should be.
No parts supplier is perfect. Stop winging. If you don't like your local branch than use someone else or genuine!
