We bought ours because we needed the space in the back for delivering bouquets and floral tributes.
I couldn't handle the thought of a Mondeo or a Vectra, so I convinced Wor Lass that we had to have something with a bit class.
TBH, I never thought they would have such a "cult" following!
Stuart.

On the Touring v estate debate, the luggage capacity for a saloon is 404 litres, and the capacity for a touring is 370 litres to the load cover, so estate it definetely isn't!

They don't have tourings in the US either. A few have appeared there and managed to get registered by dubious means, and consequently are worth a small fortune.

i know there are a few tourings about in australia - i'm sure by the time you shipped one over it wouldnt really cost much more than an equivalent 2/4 door in our local market (e30s - esp 325's, are quite pricy down here...)

Gotta say Dave's touring is the nuts,
Saw him today going sideways around aroundabout (f**king hell can that boy handle a car) an it looked awesome.
Touring's with the Mtec 2 kit look just as good as a sport in my opinion !!

Yeh practicality is the main thing - regular trips to B&Q for doing up the house and a couple of lurchers meant that anything that didn't have a hatch was out of the question. And I think they look much better than the 3-box shape of the saloons.
I like my cars to be a bit different but I've always been the sort of guy who gets bored of cars and moves on the the next one - I've had all sorts, old minis
, MG montego
Volvo 480
etc, etc. I've now had the touring for nearly 2 years and I'm not thinking of moving on yet.... I think its here to stay (well at least until I come into some money and can buy a brand new one
).

Just bought one yesterday! always liked the style of them and they're well proportioned. Couldn't really give a toss about the size of the boot but if I ever get a dog it would prevent it from rubbing its star all over the seats!

I'm planning big mods to this thing so watch this space !

I dont think people buy them for the capacity up to the load cover, they buy them for the capacity above the load cover and when the seats are downBrianmoooore wrote:On the Touring v estate debate, the luggage capacity for a saloon is 404 litres, and the capacity for a touring is 370 litres to the load cover, so estate it definetely isn't!

I've wanted one since they first came out but I do generally prefer estate cars. They're more practical, I can sleep in the back. They're not as common as saloons and just look classier. All I really need now is a tech II kit, a tech I wheel, some sports seats, 16" BBS', lowering springs for the front and she'll be sweet as.

I bought this 320i on Sat for Ԛ£220.
Bargain in my opinion with fsh, tax and mot.

Why can't I find one for that sort of money??? Seems that always when I was out for looking one the prices are skyhigh
If they would do an E30 M3 touring, I would have one!!!
Just got to be looking in the right places I suppose.
Never on Autotrader as people have to pay to advertise - no value on cars worth less than Ԛ£400.
I found this one on a free ads website, there are loads of them out there craigslist, gumtree, findit etc. Local papers are pretty useful too, and ring around a few dealers and see what trade ins they have.
Good luck.

Did anyone see the article in Autocar a couple of months ago - 30 years of the 3 series? Some bloke at BMW made his 3 series into an estate at home, showed it to the board and they decided to put it into production!
That makes it cool!

i bought my touring because i needed a small van to carry my work tools and i also needed a fast car for the thrills ,but i couldnt afford to buy and maintain both so a touring was an ideal compromise
