How much do these go for or what are they worth...

Are there any advantages from using these compared to normal ones, i know they suppose to be alot lighter, but what about performance wise etc....

lower unsprung weight should give the springs/dampers an easier time, also reduced nose weight on the car .

TBH marginal gains given the cost of said items, £171 each iirc a few years back when I last enquired.

given your location, Steel best option cheaper to replace once the balljoints are fubarred from the shite state of the roads.

Iirc they have a smaller knuckle which bolts to the strut which is useful if you are running bigger discs

You wont notice any difference on the road and unless your name is Mansel or Senna i doubt you would on track either.

The are nearly £600 a pair new from the dealer and they are dealer only!

they look good on the ramps though! There must be a benefit otherwise BMW wouldn't of bothered. Bit like headlamp washwipe and headlamp adjust.....

Fit them to a car with bastard heavy wheels and crap suspension and you likely wont notice a sausage

If you have looked at light wheels/inverted dampers etc, then it all adds up. Unsprung mass is nasty.

Barry, you can get them from C3 also, quite a bit cheaper than BMW when I bought mine..

Thats what I was going to say. All cleaned up they do look epic. However, if the e39's and e46's are anything to go by, Aluminium arms are shite for the road. They seem to eat joints and bushes for breakfast and to me, the lack of density / weight to counter act the shock to the joints does it no favours wear wise.

I'd put a set of nice clean ones on my 'vert though. Just for the peado effect :o:

I wonder if converting to the M3 style "hung" ARB on the front would benefit more than alloy W/bones ?

/\ i reckon so. the jist was that mounting the roll bar in such a way meant it was stiffer as such compared to the normal position, but still using the same diameter bar. So some genius cost saving by BMW? M3's use the same diameter anti roll bar as a 325 iirc
