^^^ yeah... he's abit of a freak really :D

If they are less than £140, I'll definitely take one or two anyway and I reckon a few people I know will take them too at that price!

Its very cheap though... friend of mine paid around 500 euro for one last year as far as I remember.
I'll await confirmation though and look forward to being pleasantly surprised :)

Before I say anything, for all the smart ass I told you so kind of people, keep your commments too yourself. I feel a big enough dick as it is even though im not the one at fault here. :o:

I called national this afternoon, spoke to a Kev/Ken fella.. Told him the story.
To cut it short, he said the rep had only given me a quote for the Standard front glass with green top tint, I made it very clear too the rep that it was two heated screens we wanted!! one was for the Mini and one for the E30, the mini purchase went ahead no problems, £140 all in, a top job.
I was holding back on the order for the E30 as I wanted the screen fitted after re-spray. He gave me his apologies and said the best he can do is try and get my the cheapest price possible for a HEATED front screen, left him my details and waited for the call back.

Feeling a bit miffed about the original cock up I got a bit impatient and called him back again but he had no news for me, he assured me he will call me back with a price which will probably end up being something daft

Spose I should have cottoned on a bit sooner that £70 for a heated front screen fitted was a bit ambitious but I clearly stated that I wanted 2 heated screens..

anyhoo, sorry for wasting your time guys.. Ill let you know what price this man comes back to me with..

Im a step ahead of you mate :P

Composing an email to a company I found online (UroGlas)
I am going to forward it on to anyother companies I find along the way..

Quote from their website

We are always open to new projects so if you’d like to see a heated windscreen manufactured for your car please get in touch and we’ll talk you through the process. If you represent a race team or low volume manufacture we’d be glad to offer you prices on larger quantities to meet your own need or for you to resell to your customers.

and some better news... UroGlas hold the tool for production of BMW E30 windscreens, NOT M3 although I have asked for prices on these aswell.

Minimum order will be for 25 (This might make the M3`s considerable more expensive esp if they have to source a tool)
The guy Stuart who I spoke with explained to me that they are an "OEM Factory" who supply windscreens for car manufacturers so you can be assured that they are a top quality product. They supply, BMW, VW and Bentley to name a few winkeye

Can I ask for a list of names for those who would be interested, that way I have numbers for when I speak to him again during the week?
If your require one for the M3 model please put this after your name.

Uroglass need a minimum order of 15, and will not ship the screens out separately, I looked into it a couple of years ago and decided I couldn't be arsed with the hassle of trying to extract £200 from 14 other zoners and then have to arrange shipping on an extremely fragile part.

Not too sure on the shipping yet, more interested in finding out the costs first.
There is a couple of ways around the delivery issue but wil wait and see what comes back from this Stuart guy first.

No worries on the original mess up. at least it has sparked interest anyway :D

I'd be still interested as £200 is still not a bad price for a good quality screen. Getting it forwarded onto Ireland would be abit of a ballache though

i thought the m3 screen was the same shape and size as the nromal e30 screen, it just has a pre-applied black band around the outside to hide the glue bond. if this is true then surely they would be able to count the m3 screens as part of the group buy number, although possibly with a slight price increase to cover the band being applied.
cheers,

I think from memory a genuine M3 screen is the same price as a normal one, the only potentially pricey bits are for the interior.
All the trim parts are NLA as far as i know.

E30 M3's suffer from scuttle, A pilar and bulkhead rot worse than E30's.

This is down to incorrect installation of the bonding sealant as it blocks the two drain holes in the top of the scuttle where the screen sits.

I only went as far as looking up part numbers, I wasn't aware it was all NLA, I didn't realise M3's were m ore prone to rust in this area either, as far as incorrect sealant application goes I have seen a couple of E30's now that have had the rubbers put in wrong and not had the holes in the seal lined up with the holes in the scuttle, you end up with the same issues as you would with poor sealant application, my car is one such sufferer, the flange the seal is located on rots away, as water sits there with nowhere to go, I was of the opinion that bonding the screen you are effectiveley sealing the area from water totally, I get what you mean by incorrect sealant application, the holes are very small and could be easily blocked if the fitter is not careful.

Email back from UROGlas

Msg him back to confirm they will deliver each screen seperate which will obviously come at a cost just depends if 25 people would actually buy one ?

Anyhoo, FYI

Hi Paul,

Sorry for the delay but we now have an up to date price on the E30 heated windscreens. As discussed the minimum order is 25 pieces and based on this, the price would be £166 + VAT each. This doesn’t cover delivery unless you have all pieces delivered to a central location. Lead time is likely to be around 10 weeks from receipt of order.

Screens would all have to be the same colour i.e. clear or with green tint.

Hope this is useful.

Best regards
Stuart
