my e30 wont stay on unless i keep press of the accelarator?
i remember i was messing about with the throtle cable on the engine a little a bit could i have possibly pulled it slightly out of place so it doest allow the car to stay idle? or i ive also read about this being a problem with the coolant temp sensor? can anyone shed some light on this situation?
i also replaced the heater fan motor today if that helps

The throttle cable has absolutely nothing to do with the idle speed, other than if it's too tight it won't let it idle low enough, of course. The idle speed should be controlled entirely by the software in the engine ECU, and is (should) not be adjustable by any other means that reprogramming.
Since you haven't said what engine you have, or the age of the car, that's about as much as I can say at this point.

just bit of extra info, i topped up oil in the engine today as the dipstick showed not much oil however when i looked again i could see like alot of oil spillage around the bottom of where the dipstick goes, so thinking maybe the dipstick bit is leaking and is not showing the actual correct amount of oil that is actualy in the engine, therefore i may of over oiled it?
also not to sure as it is dark now but it looked like where the engine coolant goes its gone all brown in colour.
finaly i replaced the fan heater motor and sprayed it with wd40 whilst running it on the car wondering if the wd40 has leaked down somewhere and damaged it?
