When I joined the forum there were non stop posts in the photo gallery of everyone newly bought 325i sports, seemed to change hands regulary.
Has anyone else noticed the number declining this past couple of years or is it just me?
I know plenty have dissapeared to the emerald isle but I can tell you this, I rarely see one over here now compared to 3 or 4 years ago.
Have that many really been broken or are they just tucked away in owners garages?
Whats your opinion?

I think the rot has caused people to frag rather than restore. Seems like everyone is fragging an E30 these days
Even for slight rust or minor damage

Im suprised many more of these don't get restored, maybe in years to come they will start getting restored properly. Who knows?

All the people with good ones are now hanging onto them. In the past year i have fragged 4 rotten sports
they look ok to start with but most are now fooked and beyond economical repair. I work on e30's for a living, and most that i see are rotten!! it is a rare sight to see any proper solid e30, let alone a sport.

I am on the look out for another in the new year, so it will be fun finding one with a solid shell. Got the urge for a bit of a project, fancy a black sport but doesn't seem to be much about.penton08 wrote:All the people with good ones are now hanging onto them. Unfortunetly people see ££ in tech2 kits and leather interiors instead of restoring
I come from an air-cooled VW background and have seen all sorts of scrap restored- shocks me how easily people frag for a quick buck...
If E30's keep an enthusiast following then scarcity will raise future prices and frag fests should feed the future restorers. Unless crap MPG cars are banned or something stupid like that!!

That doesn't worry me but the thought of how much petrol will be in 10 years plus running an m20, does indeed worry me.suchy wrote: Unless crap MPG cars are banned or something stupid like that!!

The thought of running my M20 now worries me, let alone in the future!!! And it's not a daily!!!

I've got two Tech II Sports at the moment. One is being restored, the other is being broken. The one which is being broken needs rear inner and outer arches and both boot pockets replaced. It's not economic to repair properly and sell so I'm fragging it, keeping/selling the Sport goodies and I'll be left with a rusty black shell which I'm planning to sell as I think the time will come, perhaps in 2011 when Sport prices rise further and it will be worth saving them instead of fragging them.
Anyone fancy a rolling shell from a Tech II Sport ?

Yeah I love mine also but still hurts with frequent visits to the local garage to quench it's thirst_Jay_ wrote:Mine issuchy wrote:The thought of running my M20 now worries me, let alone in the future!!! Wouldn't mind as much if it was a quick car!! But the soundtrack that reverbarates as I pull away slowly from the pump does help soften the blow...
The 325i sport is one of the best common models to own, and are becoming rarer off the ground.
The sport models are increasing in value, but thats only the good ones in standard form.
Sports that are being sold for 1500-2500 are mostly nasty ones that need work.
Ones that have heavy mods (apart from ones that have good stance) are and will be worth much less now and in future(3-5 years) than standard ones.
A decent sport that has done average miles, will even be worth money in the future and are fetching from 2500-3500 now and will probably rise to 5k max.
The ones that have low owners and less than 100k on the clocks are worth 5k now and will probably rise to 8-9k max.
So I think many people are restoring and the nasty ones are being broken, so therefore no body is driving them or selling them.
I personally think M20's for there power output are great and think its plenty to have fun. Agreed its not the most rapid car, but for me its all about the way it drives and the connection you have when driving is something you wont find in many cars.
You can have a 300bhp motor and not smile half as much as you can when driving a well sorted sport.
thats my predications and views!

I refuse to bodge, so when time and funds allow I may have a little peek behind the kit and get to work...

Some of these "uneconomic to repair" fragfests would be economic if kept for a decent amount of time. Its taken me 18 months of ownership to replace the last rusty panel after nsf wing, nsr arch weld, tailgate finally done the front valance. Just need to deflap the osf wing and dress it in the process, then a mop. Some fncker keyed one door and put a dent in the other but reckon they'll both come out with the detailing.
I've only spent £250-500 per year on the project and if that's uneconomic then sh!t - buy a bike
After 2 years I'll have a minter. Was always a minter mechanically thankfully
There really is no comparison for any other car to get so much out of it for so little. Dudes saying they're slow are just asking for a speeding ban

I know 3 E30's very local to me, a mint F plate which the family have had from new.
A D plate chromie strolls around the area in superb condition driven by an old chap.
I don't think this place attracts as many owners as it should, but are we surprised ??

I got 2 very decent pre-facelifts for a pittance. Both non-sunroof. One is the best that BBB had ever seen. But I waited a long time.
Luckily for everyone, they haven't got the scrappage scheme going anymore. That is the reason that lots of e30s have disappeared... Granddad wanted a new Renault
