standard price around here is 119p (£5.40 per gallon) unleaded except Texaco of course, which is about 50p per gallon more expensive than anyone else, as usual.

But as of 1 Jan, your fuel, like everything else, will be 2.5% dearer...Barx325i wrote:but VAT is entirely different to fuel duty
Crude oil is on the verge of going through $100 a barrel again too, so don't look for the price to come down any time soon...

Have a look at your next fuel receipt, Vat is the final calculation, so you pay VAT on the "duty" you've already paid !!!!snakebrain wrote:No?Barx325i wrote:no it won'tsnakebrain wrote: But as of 1 Jan, your fuel, will be 2.5% dearer...

Think I might just be able to beat that, in Libya I filled my 200 litre diesel tank for £11! Often if your just topping up there they will do it for free. It's really good quality as well.mrLEE30 wrote:so you will not like to know i filled my 540 to the brim from empty today for about 8 quid in Saudi Arabia

With the exchange rate, a litre over here works out at 94p, and we don't have road tax either. But I'm not looking forward to bringing the E30 to England in two weeks' time...

Diesel here is even cheaper then fuel!!! 11 pound for 200 litres is quite pricey!!!!Gwynleym10 wrote:Think I might just be able to beat that, in Libya I filled my 200 litre diesel tank for £11! you see, this is what pisses me off about england.
One facebook group has over 600,000 members campaigning to beat off X-Factor chart dominance for UK Christmas number 1 and will most likey succeed. Why not do it for something worthwhile like getting petrol prices down...
no wonder the english get ripped off left right and center at the pumps.
rant over...

There's a diesel shortage in Edinburgh at the moment, prices are creeping up to £1.23 per litre and will climb further based on the supply/demand equilibrium. If I didn't have clear fuel lines I'd be tempted with cherry !!

Yes! when I started using LPG in september it was at 63.9 at my local, about a month later went up to 67.9, then to 70.9, now at 74.9! 11p in 3 months!
still cheaper than petrol

Its been 58p for about 2 months, last week it shot up to 64p after they were starved of gas for a day and a half by the supplier, who turned up Wednesday with a tanker full only to be also greeted with a price hike and explanation of "the Norwegians have been holding supplies back to try and drive the price up"
Looks like they succeeded, whoever it was
What p1sses me off is the first time I filled my tank after converting the car nearly 3 years ago is was 29p a litre!

This is just what they want though, and is what keeps the prices rising.Alex wrote:i dont even bother looking at prices anymore, nothing we can do about it and there only going up
Why should we pay 80% or more tax on a litre of bloody fuel?
Notice how most other countries dont get bummed so much with fuel

This is a massive issue for me... I half my weekly wagedown the middle with the mrs... She sorts out all the bills and gets the food, I have to do nothing orther than pay my car insurance each month. She sorts everything... Now my half is halved again with the price of fuel that goes into my car to get me to and from work...
So, if we wasnt paying so much tax on fuel, I would have me some spare cash each week... If what Dan says is right, then 80% more just makes me feel sick!
Any suggestions on how I can single handedly lower the prices?

I think the point is, as somone meationed above... that people in the UK in genral don't really care what price they pay.
Thing is, this is what is fucking everyone over... if no one is complaining then these oil companies will just keep taking and taking...
They do it sly though...
check this. the price is say 119.9 per liter now. If they raised to say 150.9 overnight then there would be a big outcry.
But they do this slowly over a period of time so people get used to the idea. So this in 2 years time will be most prob be paying 150.9 per liter and people won't even say owt.
even more now we pay all this duty on it to pay back all this goverment debt.

there was a facebook thing going around a while ago..something about avoiding all the main brands like esso/bp etc that have the monopoly so that they have to lower the price to get customers back.
i guess it would only work if everyone did it
