no it is not!!! any car on the road at any time must be insured, the days of £15 daily cover have been and gone as well. last time i had a day quote for a renault migraine they wanted £50+, i insured it online for a year paid the deposit and canceled it a day later and got a full refund :D

there are plenty of short term insurance companies. it usuallycosts around £30 for a few days.
try your current insurance company tho as ive added a second car to my policy plenty of times. when i had 2 cars i used this to insure the e30and it cost me £64 for a month fully comp. ring your current insurance company as all are different but i can insure a second car for up to 120 days a year in total.

Don't use e-car insurance. Terrible company, check out reviews online.

Taking out a yearly policy and cancelling it the day after-free of charge is a myth.

Insurance companies know that alot of people will do this, I paid £75 deposit on a policy to pick "my new car" up, the car was a nail, cancelled it the next day and was told I`d get a £25 refund 8O

I`d ring a few companies up and see if they can sort you a deal out just for the day.

Hope You never have to claim or deal with them. I am with them now and want to swap my car, they won't change the policy but they will cancel it (£75) and expect me to pay in full for a new policy before they refund me the difference ! Don't fancy my chances of getting any money back from them either. Had nothing but trouble with them. As I posted earlier....check out their reviews online....
There is a company on 'Gumtree' offering 7 days insurance for £30, don't know if it's kosher ??
Good luck.
