Hello everyone, started doing 1000miles a month in my 325i and shouldnt ignore my overdue service any longer.
I will do it all myself, but cant be bothered to do the following:
Timing & Aux belts with tensioner
adjust valves? - might do this myself
rad coolant hoses (as you have to take it out to do the belts anyway)
thermostat & waterpump
I live in cardiff, can anyone recommend a garage/specialist (not B&R!)
Cheers,
Greg
PS still after a standard lip spoiler if anyone has one.
What should I expect to pay for Major Service (Timing Belt)

Hi greg, i live near caerphilly so down the road, i have a standard spoiler on the breaker on my drive (by standard you mean the really small one yes?) normally i also carry out work such as timing belts etc but am a bit swamped with my restoration at the moment. you're welcome to have a look round the car to see if there are any other little bits and pieces you may need too.

Aux belts are easy, takes around 15min. As are the rad hoses and thermostat. The only tricky job here is the timing belt and waterpump job, which in itself isn't too hard and you could save a nice bit of money doing it all yourself.
The timing belt is a "5 spanner" ie. most difficult job according to the haynes manual, but I managed it on the race car in about 6 hours start to finish, including draining the coolant, removing the radiator, fan aux belts, covers etc etc, replacing the waterpump and timing belt and then putting it all back together with new samco hoses etc.
It's no-way a 5 spanner job in my opinion, it's actually quite simple as long as you have the tools and the time to do it methodically. Removing the radiator and the front grilles give a nive access "hole" at the front of the car to make life easier..
The timing belt kit (make sure you replace the tensioner) and water pump were about £80 i think, I imagine labour would of been around double that!
