If you did it over the internet or on ebay if its the same as GSF the internet dealings are a seperate company to the branches so you might have a problem sorting it in one of there branches.

I avoid ECP at all cost i would rather pay a few quid extra and get my parts from GSF

i love ECP :-)

but then I go to the shop and deal with them face to face, once had the wrong brake pads and they sorted it immediately, but was a bit of a fanny on with not having wheels no the car at the time, luckily I had a friendly neighbour!

There's 2 branches near me, 1 about 15 miles away in Swansea, and the other about 30 miles away in Cardiff.

I use the Cardiff branch every time, I've not once had a correct part supplied the first time when using the Swansea branch. Muppets.

The last straw for me was when I went in and asked for some E46 cab top mounts, and he refused to serve me because I didn't have a reg or chassis number, 'the computer says no' syndrome, no problem getting what I needed from Cardiff store

I've never really had a problem with them, brought parts for Audi, Fiat, VW and my own E30.

Used online and visited in store, when i ordered an incorrect part off the net, the email service was great and returned to the part to the store for a refund with no worries

Store is the Birmingham one and the guys are pretty good, good knowledge and usually try to steer you away from the cheapest part towards Lemforder etc

They've excelled themselves again with me today! My order finally turned up this afternoon (GSF order placed at the same time arrived Friday morning), and included a pair of E36 clear front indicators - or at least, should have. Two indicators there OK, a left and a right, but different makes, and different in appearance!

I bought a load of stuff off them earlier this year and they got everything right apart from the rear brake pad wear sensor which was for an E46

I've dealt with the Oldbury and Aston branches and theyre OK as long as you check what you've got before you leave the desk.

Annoying that the over the counter prices are dearer than the internet stuff.

Not if you tell them your not paying that as they list the same part on the internet for less,

This cant be the oldbury dump surely? That lot must be the most unprofessional bunch of half wits ive ever known, dealt with or heard stories about.
To start with your lucky if they answer the phone...
If you get that far its a 50/50 whether the other end is going to talk to you in a civilised manor or with an attitude problem like your some sort of street dweller begging for change..
If they have the part (apparently) it will always be more money than any of the other branches, guaranteed!
Dont forget the 6 hours needed for delivery

Last week I ordered a front hub/bearing from bmw. They only had one in stock so I took it and ordered the other. Due to them cocking up the order and not being able to get the hub for when i needed it I thought I would try ecp... Now the dealers one comes with the dust cap and the 36mm nut that are NOT reuseable and must be replaced. Ecp in there wisdom dispite it being the same make as the dealer one has no nut and no cap. ANd they don't supply either ??? go figure. I will wait for the dealer to get my hub in...

I wanted a lollipop bush from them, went in, told them what I wanted and the guy comes out with a wishbone ball joint.

"That's not the right part."
"Yes it is."

I believe one of the first rules of salesmanship is not to argue with the customer about what it is they want.

I only prefer ECP over GSF because they understand that manufacturer Brand is important and understand when you say I want the Lemfoerder variant or the Febi version etc.

GSF have a lot random unknowns brands so I don;t mess with them. They are way better with service.

I never order online from ECP, if you do you should go with Motormec etc as they know their stuff.

ECP is great if you go into the store and leave with exactly what you want.

I don't bother ordering over the internet/phone, its easier to go there and have a look.
The front bushes ECP offered me last time had less rubber in them than the old ones i'd taken out and looked like they would have lasted about a week.
Its just buyer beware with them, especially when they are trying to shift old crap stock that some penny pincher has ordered.
There is NO nucleus.

I'd never realised people have so much trouble with them. :?

I must admit i tend to get the important BM parts from either main (through the dealer on here, find the local BM dealers are too much hassle) or Motormec, but for example i have an Audi A4 front suspension rebuild to do, and i need to replace disk/pads/shoes on a VW Lupo, if i were to source the parts from the main dealers it would cost a fortune (its either that or local parts places/ebay - never the best) and time, two things i dont have!

One thing I will say about ECP is they sell "Transmech" clutch kits, I don't know whether they make a kit for the E30 but all I'll say is I fitted one on my old 306 DT Sedan and it lasted 2800 miles. Thats right folks, two thousand and eight hundred. 8O
