I phoned them and they're a 'cash only' operation which worries me a little.

I was about to order a new hood from here:

But I don't really want the faff of fitting it myself - despite some positive comments from zoners I'm still a little nervy about doing it.

Going rate for a hood fitted seems to be £500-£750,so that is the bottom end of the market.
Would not worry too much about the 'cash only' bit,it will take the guy half a day to fit the thing and he will have laid out £200-£300 for the hood.
I would expect that almost all hoods that need replacing will be similar in operation to mine,so would also benifit from a pair of new tensioner straps as well and there is no mention of these in the advert.
I would want to see a car 'in the flesh' that the guy has fitted a hood to,before parting with my hard-earned.....

cheers daimlerman - sound advice it seems. Any idea where I could source the tensioner straps at reasonable cost and would I likely need them? I'm not sure what their supposed to do.

There are two tensioner straps, they link the hood frame together and are there to guide the fabric into the correct folds.
On my hood, for example, the o/s one works perfectly but the n/s one needs a little help at the first fold from the header rail to get the thing tucked in correctly so that the horseshoe will close.Snag is,you can only fit them to a bare hood frame, then the fabric goes over them.
Not priced them myself, but I understand that they are about £80.But if I was spending £500-£750 on a new hood fabric,I would not hesitate to replace both tensioners as well.
My problem is that my hood is cosmeticly tatty, with a semi-cloudy window and a couple of minor grazes on the rear quarters, but is watertight so I am reluctant to change it just simply to improve the appearance of the car!
