anyone done a coilover conversion??

not the usual one i mean take your old struts, cut off the spring cup then have the coil over tube welded on?? to give adjustable ride hieght coil overs? im doing it on my mk2 escort and the kits are only £21 per side and springs are only £15, just wondered if anyone on here has done it?? might give it a go.

I'm in the process of it now on my daily.
Ordered a the coilover conversion for the front with spring perches and collars and ordered 1 threaded sleeve which I plane on cutting in 2 for the rear spring perch adjusters.
Went to Faulkners for the springs.
6" @ 375ft/Ibs for the front
5" @ 575ft/Ibs for the rear.
The adjusters are required for rears as with 5" springs the car is almost on the bump stops.
