dilema, can't decide if its worth saving...
Moderator: martauto
i have a 1988 316 2 door with 71,000miles on, 2 owners, totally standard (apart from the wierd alloys), interior is in pretty much mint nick, boots the same, spare wheels never been fitted, etc etc, BUT the wings have perished last winter, must've been filled with bodge and the cold made it drop out, then when i was poking at the front valance my finger went through it, looks like the holes are bein hidden by the stone guard stuff, also a nice hole in the inner wing thats gettin bigger, sooo, the question is, do i spend £400+ to get it fixed when i reckon the car can't be worth much more, or just keep driving it till its too bad to be on the roads then brake it for spares?? i have a mk2 escort in mint nick and like the thought of this parked next to it, gggrrr, i don't know what to do, what you guys think???

The only bad bit is the inner wing, and getting a patch put in shouldn't cost too much. The other three panels are bolt-on jobs, and you may get them on here in the right colour (with a little patience) to save spraying costs.
If all else is ok, i'd say it's easily worth saving.

I'd keep it well away from the Escort, in case the tin worm decides to pay it a visit!

I do like MK2 RS 2000s . But they really are quite crap. When they were £1500 , I could see the point
but not at 10 bags !
As for the quattroportes, they are even sadder than an E30 quattroporte, at least the E30, even a nice 316i is quite a pleasant car

im mainly on oldskoolford, ill keep an eye out for him. and as for the prices, i have to agree, they're a bit silly now, specially when my little 1600 xflow out paces standard RS2000's, i have spent a bit of money on it but it makes me smile when we're on a run n they cant quite keep up, hahaha. rather have an M3 E30 than an RS2000 anyday though. thats what i love about "proper cars", engine at the front, gearbox in the middle, power at the back, the only traction control is your right foot and the only thing keeping you out of the hedge is the ammount of talent you have in your talent bag,
(my bags sometimes pretty empty
, but not always
)

heres my brothers car..not the greatest of pics but only ones I could find on my photobucket account the now

what spec is yours running? pretty sure Bills is running a 1740 Burton or along those linesmk2escort wrote:thats a bloody lovely motor, wouldn't mind lining up against that for a blast
mines a 1660 xflow, kent 234 cam, 1300 flat top pistons, stage 2 head, kawasaki ninja bike carbs, H&H sports ignition kit, 8mm silicone HT leads, 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, 2 inch ashley exhaust system, lightnend n balanced, twin duplex timing chain, high flow oil pump, electric fan, high torque starter, quick shift gear stick kit, i've probs forgotten bits, its been a few years since i wrote it all down, lol, the end result is 130bhp @ wheels on bogg bro's rollers, its certainly the harshest acceleratin car i've owned, none of this smooth delivery, jus hurts ur neck if your not ready, haha, and the sound of the carbs is great, ill post a vid up of a burn out if the mods dont mind?jbh wrote:what spec is yours running? pretty sure Bills is running a 1740 Burton or along those linesmk2escort wrote:thats a bloody lovely motor, wouldn't mind lining up against that for a blast
