Probably but a working set used is like £20, pointless going new.
There's a million zoners who will sort you out - place an thread in the wanted section.

thing is the 2 motors i have at the mo spin freely when removed from the mech, but dont seem to have the guts to do the windows without sticking and sometimes needing help to go back up. I will have no way of knowing if they are anygood until fitting them

Grease everything up and check your glass and guide alignment is all good.
If you have the old style mechanisms (the S shaped rails) then ditch them for the newer version which is much more robust and one of the most reliable parts on an E30.

How easy is that mod, i thought about doing that but i read that you have to drill the door panels to align up the motor fitments as the early and later door mounting points are different?

Super easy.
You have to drill just one hole about 5mm away from san existing hole for the bottom of the window guide bracket nearest the B-Pillar. Everything else is the same.
30 mins each side.
Whilst all the guts are out, clean out the doors, clear the drainage holes and flood the door with waxoil.
Clean and grease the mechs for quiet smooth operation.

So the motor asse line up on the later mech asembly itself and 3 of the other holes line up? Just the one to drill? I may go this route then, as they certainly look alot better

Everything bolts right in, you may be able to keep the original runners in (the rails the inner door seals slide into) but I would get some facelift doors complete with all the guts and swap it all over - minus the locks/central locking bits.
