Just finished a leather restore using leather magic products, took my time but well worth it in the end. The leather was discoloured and worn but now looks A1 new again. Also refurbed my BBS in motorsport style colours. They were kerbed as i sold them to a pal for his golf and he fussed them up even more. However recently rescued and resored they now look new again.
Couple of pics anyhow.
Costs...leather bits around 70 - leathermagic, wheel stuff 30 - local accessories shop, roof and carpet just been redyed blue 50 - renovo.
Totals 150 notes and many hours well worth the effort, plus as the saying goes "if you want a job doing properly............."
Getting there..must press on.
Cheers folks,
Andy

Tng21, leathermagic.co.uk
Basically the leather is sanded back to reveal the bare leather using a 240 grit automotive paper. Ends up showing the suede texture of the leather once the damaged dyed surface is removed, the cracks then become minimal and can be repaired. The leather can then be softened with a leather care and then an additional prepping agent to open up the leather pores. Any tears or holes you can fix a backing to the area (glued behind). Firstly with any holes/tears you slightly enlarge the damage to a squared area big enough to insert a patch onto the backing. Flexible leather filler is used on any cracks, or spaces around the patch. Build thye filler up slowly to get nice and even. Works well on our leather as there is no grain to the finish. Then apply the dye sparingly over 4ish coats to get an even coverage. Best when leather is warm, i.e in the sun or heated garage.
I also redyed a pair of dark tan headrests for the rear using the same process. In the end i could tell which ones were original so i don't know which of the 4 seats i fitted the redyed ones too.

Probably just notice that the driver's doorcard is the last piece of interior left to do.

Paintwork now cut/polished/cut/polished etc.etc hands & arms now fcuked.
Getting there, almost A1 new again, anyhow back to the resto, haven't driven the thing in 3 months, car has turned into a fcuking hobby.

BTW what do you guys think of the blue carpet, kinda livelier than the grey i think. Goes with the body too..! YES/NO

Woody take a look at Shaz's, mine was pretty much the same. I think nearly all of the Whites end up ropey looking. I'll try and dig some out, however it was cracked with a small tear or two.

That looks so nice mate well done!
i have lotus white leather which looks worn, but no rips etc, its just cracks and is very dirty, no that bad, i dont like what the job involves (sanding down etc), what if i mess it up!! i really want to have a go but is it easy enough to do, i will spend alt of time doing it if its a long job.

Yes it's a long job to get right but if you take your time you should be alright. Basic DIY skills is all that's required really.

can u do my seats?! don't really need it, but hey

Or should go for it! I love cleaning making the car as clean or looking as new as possible

Car looks absolutly A1, fresh wheels and seats make a massive difference to the overall appearance to an oldish car. Spot on it looks
I just love the colours used on motorsport cabs, funky bodywork colours, the all matched interiors plus the nogaro bbs's help really set them off as a very special looking E30

Nice job mate, got some BBS's on the way, what sorta paint did you use to do the motorsport style? Any specific codes/numbers that people go for, dont just want to pick a random shade of grey lol
