Hello,

My e30 325i has a broken autobox... I sourced another one ages ago but never got over to pick it up so I contacted the seller and let's hope I can go collect.

Anyhow I'm not keen to convert from auto to manual myself but swapping the auto back into the e30 I think I can do and it's a lot cheaper.

I done a auto to manual swap before but had a massive garage in NZ but now have a small one and it's got a classic car in so can't use that.

Do you think it's worth paying someone and making up the savings in fuel or does a auto 325i drink not a massive amount over a auto? Note my e30 also has a leaking rear oil seal! Is this hard to change with engine in / g/box out?

My e30 has strut braces/front&rear 40mm drop extra / poly bushes / magnacore leads blah blah so it's sporty but i'm happy with it being auto.... it's also 4 door scum :P

Cheers Mart

generally accepted is about 3-6 mpg less out of an auto, generally putting you the wrong side of 30mpg, all depends how many miles you do in it?

for 40 miles a week back and forth from work i dont think i would bother for the fuel saving, but i also dont think i could live with an auto but then thats my issue with autos.
