Built this September time last year as I had a load of bits id amassed, started off as a cooked 330i lump which was relieved of its crank gear and rebuilt into a low milage 99 stamped steel liner M52 block.

Ready to go together -

torque curve look impressive, especially compared to the S50 one which peaks rapidly (a little bit like yours climbs) and drops off, yours climbs and then raises slowly to a higher peak.

Nice amount of torque that! What is the spec of the engine? i understand that its a b30 bottom end but is anything custom? I'd love to build one of these!

Certainly more power is availble with a bit of a remap and other trinkets!

:)

It will get better fuzzy, apart from a compression hike its pretty much standard ATM.
Will an M5 fit in at Mc Donalds? One of those winged jap things would suit you better IMO :)

It is a standard M50 inlet/TB Kos
Had a bit of fannying about with pistons but it all went together pretty straight forward TBH

Dan, you need to do a build wiki for this. I've been saying for the last year (due to my 530i sport) that the 3.0l crank is the way to go. The m54b30 is a f*cking awesome lump.

Your right Dez, if id have put some more money and effort in it could have been closer to 3200cc :)

But, I did want to use an ally block this time, and it was built with track car in mind

Its a cool motor mate. You know what's gone into mine and to be honest if I were to do it again I would probs just fit oversize 84mm rings clean the bores up and have a high spec 2.8.
Standard displacement is for gays though

Guys, I know it would, but doesn't hurt to liven things up around here, even if the new trend is the M30 V M50/2, all in light hearted typing
