I am thinking of getting a E30 sprot again, I think its because iv been talking to 2 E30 owners about them and its making me think again. I sold my last sport because I was fed up with spending money on it all the time and got so anal about the car I wouldnt leave it anywere.
Im also going to be short on spare cash soon so I have got myself a 306 hdi. so will be getting 60 mpg (so im told) but there is a bit of me that wants something more fun and more of a toy, but im worried it will turn into a money pit/obsession

so please tell me to stop thinking about e30s and keep the 306 and get on with it lol.

lee

ps dan this is all your fault.

Forget the sport, its just a poseur's car with the same engine as any other 325i but dressed up in plastic skirts, plus it's a two door so it proves you don't have any mates ;)

You want a touring, you do!!

there`s something about tech 2 sports that keeps you wanting them even though they may have their faults, ive been wrangling with myself about selling mine to fund my next E30 project and have decided it would be for the best but still cant bring myself to type out the ad. mine is only used very occasionally and is in tip top condition and i cant help thinking ill want it back if i do sell as most that have parted with their sports (even the really rusty turds) do.

bin the frenchy, bring on the fun winkeye

Having a Sport, a 325i touring (recently deceased) and a 306 hdi, I can honestly say you wont regret getting rid of the french turd and getting another Sport (or any other 325i).

60mpg my ass! 50 odd is the best Ive had on a motorway run and thats sat at 70mph. I dont think I get much over 35-40mpg from the pug everyday, although it is usually driven hard as you need to keep the turbo spinning to have fun, and even though it doesnt handle too bad, its still not much fun.
The torque is impressive, but its runs out too quick, having said that 40mph to 70mph is done fairly quick.

Id rather drive my Sport for work (or another touring when I find one), but I cant get petrol on the works account, so I need to use a diesel for my everyday boring stuff.

Been thinking about that for a while now, as it was the eventual plan for my touring, but it was beyond saving.

To find a decent unmolested rust free sport will be an expensive and time consimung challenge - when you could much easier find a late model fully loaded 325i SE in as good or better condition for around £2k less.

Unless you absolutely positively have to have "Sport" on the logbook, a black headlining and a moisture retaining bodykit its a No brainer :D

306's are good as they hold their value but if you're desperate for economy and an E30 definitely some new variant VAG diesel engine will give you the mpg, speed and looks you're after?

That is the best advise so far on this thread. If you ignore it, it just means you're a shallow person who is only interested in looks winkeye
