Is this car owned by a zoner?
I would love to see some more pics of the engine bay as I am in the middle of detailing mine and this one looks fantastic AND is the same engine (the good old 7th injector :D )

Very nice. I like those rocker covers, i've seen them on E21's, hadn't even realised they were only early E30's.

I would think that thats been pretty well stripped to bits restored and put back together, thats not a simple afternoons work with a rag and a bottle of cheap polish! :P

It does look fantastic though, full respect to whoever owns it!

It sure is mine and at the time of the photo none of the engine had been stripped in any way for some time.
The last time it was in bits was 1992 when a new head was fitted.
The rocker cover is original factory finish.

It is now in bits because the inlet manifold was letting it down. So I have removed it and it is off for vapour blasting tomorrow along with the TB and air slide valve.

Once it is reassembled I will post fresh piccies.
The last pics taken of it were Aug 09 after doing the cambelt and front end.

Fantastic piece of work - don't seem to be many 323s on this site. It isn't all about power after all :D
What treatment has the valve cover recieved to get it so clean - mine is patchy in finish although has never had any attention?

The valve cover has only had WD40 wiped over it to keep it clean and fresh, without damaging the surface.
The easiet way to get the factory look is to buy a new one. In the UK they go for about £140 and really lift the engine bay.

Well, rather than wait, I had to get the camera out and show what the bay looks like just now.
Image

I have taken off the inlet manifold and had that vapour blasted. The results are just sweet...
Image

The TB was also done. The process does not affect rubber or electrics, so the TB could be left in one piece.
Image

Today I started some of the rebuild by fitting new heater hoses and new fuel hoses. After 29 years it was better to replace now.

Lots to do yet before she purrs into life again.....

Oh I forgot to add that I've decided to buy ganz neuer injectors from the stealer rather than refit or clean etc. 8O Still they should be good for another 100k now.

Saw a minty red E30 a few weeks ago when I was in Edinburgh. Could have been you :D... or is it in a shed or being worked on for a good bit?

That looks awesome - vapour blasting you say :? Not familiar with the process but them seem to be endless new techniques about.
Do you plan to seal the manifold at all - clear coat?
