Difficult to tell about the rear tyre, it is off the bead on the rim both inner & outer. Have not had a proper look yet, I took the pics above at lunchtime today when it got dropped off and had to rush back to work. Only just got in and it is dark and raining, so have just put a tarp over it to try and keep the inside dry and the headunit is still in etc.

I reckon that driver seat is alright and it is just because of the floor being so buckled that it is at that angle. Doesn't look any narrower. Will have a better inspection once I start stripping it back at the weekend.

You could graft a reiger bodykit on it, that should cover the damage.

What was the impact speed again? About 35?

Man you did a proper job of that! I can't believe you walked away!

There's another pait of hands here if you need them again, I think you have enough offers that if you got everyone together you could have it re-shelled over a weekend :D

Shit the bed!

Are the fuzz/McDonalds taking it any further? Going to claim in the insurance or just say 'bollocks to it' and reshell the MoFo?

thanks lads, I'll hold you to that :)

Police are not taking further, they saw me sufficiently crestfallen and know I'll probably be getting the good news for the lamp post etc.

Not heard anything from mcdees, unless the police gave them my details at the time, i guess they'll end up requesting them in due course and contacting me.

I'm not claiming for my car off my insurance due to the problems that may arise with salvage retention on something that is cat b or worse. But I will report it to my insurers so they are ready when the claim for the lamp post etc comes in.

Got to produce my documents, despite telling the officer I had all my documents with me in the car and my licence on me, he still insisted on writing me a HORT1

Thats probably so there is an official record of them being seen, rather than the word of the one officer should it have been taken any further I would imagine.

I trust that you will be suing the relevant bodies that installed the lamppost in such an inconsiderate position winkeye

I know that was said as a joke, but your not far off the mark mate.
It was a post with the light shashed off the top and had not work for a long time by the look of it. It was inside a tree and was at the start of a 5 mile an hour speed limited drive through. Pointless isnt in it. If it hadnt been there the car would have needed 2 tyres. Fooking post. As has already been said mate if you need a hand getting the shell back giz a shout and i will give you a hand as well. You can re pay me with the chromie winkeye

Wow just seen this. I'm only new here but I'd like to say that's terrible what happened and glad you are OK chap :)

That roundabout is a bastard, I wonder if there was anything spilt on or around it as there's a petrol station right close by?

Jeeping buggery :clin: I know it's been said before, but you were so lucky to get out of that without more serious injury. Those pics look bloody scary - I can see why you might have a bit of backache.

All the same, good on yer for keeping the car - another crack at an M52 touring is just the right response IMHO.

it was the element of surprise as i travelled sideways through the bushes as to what solid object I was going to hit. To be honest it was better to collect a lamp post than into another car or worse

Just for info the US M3s have side impact bars, pics in Siebald book, maybe the other E30s do too?

It look as though it had been like that for a while to me but it still wasn't doing anythhing either way. Sure they will claim for it like. Went past today and had a look in day light and hecwas very lucky. That curb is high. Could have rolled just as easy. Looks a bit of a mess still round the drive through. Lucky man
