By traffic as their APNR has told them I have no insurance...
After some banter they gave me the benifit of the doubt and did not take my car, but they will check it out tomorow.

So I got home and checked my documents...and my reg....and yes I'm insured. Checked online data base and I'm not insured???

Have the naughty Adrian flux not informed the company they have insured me? have I been driving around not coverd for two weeks?

This happend to anyone else??

I was lucky not to be walking home ffs.
If this goes to court they can carry the can :x

I guess, if you've got all your documents and insurance certificate, you are in the clear. Its down to your insurer to notify the underwriters.

That is the common sense version.

I expect the English law version will only see that im not coverd to drive the car.

My mate was in a similar situation a year or so ago.

However, he didn't pay his monthly instalment leading to the insurer putting his policy to a halt. He got pulled, but got away as he did not recieve any notification from the insurance.

You should be ok, if things are still the same.

not all insurance companies susbcribe to the master database, eg, companies that usually specialise in fleet insurance etc.

Flux should be on there but:

at best there's a 4 day delay before your cover is registered

at worst that 4 day delay is amplified by the insurance co's clerical efficiency / or taking the none working weekend into account.

There's always the possibility your policy has slipped the MID net. If you have it on paper, and you've paid for cover, then you're cool.

I got caught speeding last month which was fair enough. What I was surprised about was that they did not pick up on the fact that the car had no MOT or rather it ran out in July. At the time I did'nt know either and was far more concerned about the ticket. It was later when I stumbled across my mot while looking for somthing else that I found out that I had covered 2500 miles since it expired.

At the other extreem I was swooped apon by 4 marked cars and 3 police bikes this summer while out getting a pint of milk. This was due to me passing one of those camera vans and it reading my plate one digit wrong! I dont know what the owner of that car had done but they were taking things very seriously untill I provided ID and they checked my plate.

I'm glad that these systems are in place and would rather be pulled over by mistake than make it easy for people to get away with driving ilegal cars.

with regards to the pint of milk incident, I suspect the wrong digit will have flashed up as being a green rover 200 say, and not matching your vehicle.

Hence all the blundering coppers on the scene in seconds.

some firms dont want to pay to update the insurance agency, however there is a central database we can call and access vehicle details by policy holder name.

Had one the other day where the guy come up as no insurance when checked fully insured but 1 digit wrong on policy

Also classic insurance never shows up for some reason :?

i pulled my self over some time ago, aorund 1 am(ish), they(CID) followed me for at least 15min, till i got to the bottom of my road and pulled up myself, to see WTF they wanted..... he come over saying, no need to worry we are police, i said i know thats why i pulled over to see what you guys want, he said just checking to see if you haevnt been drinking etc, and then he says, o you were driving a bit slow all that way for a car like this, i said, obviously you guys were behind me winkeye

I was driving just under 30, the roads were empty, as it was 1 am in the morning for around 10-15min, even stayed sat on green lights to see if they would go, but they jsut waited for me to go 1st, which kind of jsut gave it away even more... so to wind them up, i accelerated hard till i got to 25ish and then drove normal.... winkeye

it is probably their excuse for pulling you and asking you a few freindly questions suhc as what you are doing and where you are going in order to see if you answer anything suspicious, plus have a sneaky look if you appear drunk/stoned/poor and if you car has tax etc.

a very very easy way to avoid this is to carry a photocopy or colour scan of your documents in your wallet/glove box, this way its easy to produce and saves you the hassle of going to local nick, paying to park and producing the docs.

but the police can come with any rubbish they like, in order to get their way....ie; to stop you, to search your car, to search the person, and always they will threaten you with section 5 bullshit, well with me anyway  , once they threaten to arrest me when i was minding my own business, sitting in my car with the door open waiting for someone, and told me to move on, asked why, becuase we asked you too was their answer, said nope, not done anything so why should i move, and so on. piised me right off....

My old crock insured under a classic policy shows up on ASKMID.

But yes, given this case by the OP, it's well worth checking - could save you the hassle of having your car impounded, or worse, crushed by gung-ho fools

This happend to me last year in my Rs turbo. I was driving through Chester which is well lit, and I got pulled over by a stunning lady officer. She told me about my bulb then done a quick check, it came back with no insurance. I had insured it that night but the admin staff must not have got it updated on the database straight away. She took the details of the other Fiesta I had been using previously and let me go.

i'm renewing in a month or so, well when I say renewing, I shall be comparing the meerkats. so I'll report back with my findings

on the subject of renewing... if switching to another company, watch your old insurer doesn't try and take payments out..

that happened to me. When I called to say that I hadn't replied to the countless "please renew with us" letters for a reason, they tried evey excuse..

Well, im still not on the database.

Dont see why i should be treated like scum when ive payed my premium up front and have done nothing wrong.

I will carry my docs in future , but this wont make any difference to a jobsworth copper after my ins company has closed.

Very p1ssed off with flux, had some bad times with them this year.

any quote I've had with flux, I just laughed at.. once they tried to tell me that £400 was good, and possibly the cheapest I'll find.

How can £400 be cheaper than £244?

I got pulled over in my escort cabriolet about 3 weeks before it got written off, bearing in mind I had had it for just over 2 years all that time it had been insured and registered too me.......... the copper came to my side of the car and asked me to get out and I must say he was very rude which didnt amuse me in the slightest...........he asked if it was me car and if it was registered to me and if I was insured to which I replied yes/yes/ and if it wasnt mine I wouldn't have the keys which had a keyring with my name on............he then did a check and said it belonged to a guy in liverpool!!!!!! luckly I had all the documents in my car as I had needed them for something else............he still didn't belive me as he was saying I wasn't insured and it wasn't in my name even though he was holding all the paperwork to back this up...........twat!!! he then proceeded to give me a 7day producer.............he obviously had nothing better to do with his time........... :x
