 And I love mine to bits! But I still long for a 6 pot!

There is a thread with a load of pictures of it, in the photo gallery section on here.

all you need is a 2.0 m10 on twin carbs ... nothing beats the sound of twin 45 sucking away at full chat on a revvy 4 pot ...

just up graded motors in my 318 to a m2023,car usually does 1000k a week to and from work, never let me down blew a heater hose one night coming home from work so i just kept going with the temp guage right thru the red, drove about 80-90k like that ,fixed the hose and refilled it(it took about 8 litres) and it hasnt missed a beat.odometer stopped 2yrs ago with 220 plus k on it so really it has about 320-330k on it.

My first ever car was a m10 318i and I thought it was one of the best little runner I ever had.

Wasn't the 318i an M40?

My mate had a 316 M10. Put a webber and a nice exhaust on it and it was great. Good little car an only problem it had was a tickover problem relating to its old carb. Replaced that (with the webber) and sorted out the fuel/air ratio and it worked a charm (when you sorted the choke out properly on a cold day :D).

Not slugs either. Good hatchback 1.6L style performance when running well. Baby engines make E30s feel light and nimble.

A great upgrade would be to get the 2.0 M10 from the 2002, or just the parts needed, and then twin carb it. Heard they're great engines to tubro too!

If you convert it to the 2.0L model one day, then it'd make a great little toy and worth chucking some money at. Bulletproof engine, great reliability, simple to work with, a bit'o poke. What more could you want bar a 6-pot/M3

TBH, my 320i auto is nearing the end of its life and I wouldn't mind a nice little less-pot for a run-around. :D

No. The later M10's 318's were injected until the facelift came along with the M40.
