Bloody things, 400 miles trip yesterday to get my roof, 20 mile jouny back from work today hit a speedbump and crunch, kept going, started to smell burnings oil so geussed there was a leak, kept goin waiting for the oil light to come on it didnt, 20 mins later i got home it still pouring out oil,

i now have 2 cars with brocken sumps, sods law!

Ive just ripped the arse out of my audi sump two days ago makes a lovely reassuring noise when you do it thought id ripped the whole subframe from the fecker after the noise it made!

havnt you ever thought of slowing down for speed humps my car is quite low and ive never had this trouble

i did slow down just cought it at the wrong angle, and was over taking a learner :S

mine was made along with a lot of others by a bloke called len1 on here.he had them for sale at £100 but i got a 25% discount and collected it that day.he does pbmw and after a sump fail on the track he made these.he lives in southampton.

i don't have his number any more as i only needed 1 of these.

I have to crawl over speed humps, but when I've got the kids in the car, I have to take detours to avoid roads with speed humps.

I've been lucky so far, but the sump does have scrape marks on it.....

shame it's the most vulnerable thing on a lowered e30,
i never had any problems like this on mk11 escorts.but an e30 is more refined car

what engine you got in your car?
iv had a couple of 1.8 now and iv bin through about 6 /7 sumps iv lost count i live on a farm an the lanes abit rough i can change the lower sump on 1 of those in about 15 min now i got a sump gaurd and they work abit but i found that ended up bending in and cracking my sump anyway . i thought 320 325 sumps were higher up?

im gunna tackle the job monday, mabe make my own guard......

im going to raist the engine and put in a 10mm spacer on the mounts so it sits a wee bit higher, lets hope it doesent happen again

im sure if i keep a stock of sumps ill never break one, but its sods law when uve used ur last your bound to break another!
