I am replacing the trailing arm bushings and I need to remove the arms themselves to press in the new ones but Ive never done this before so Im wondering how exactly the handbreak cable is removed from the back of the drum also the righthand trailing arm bolt is being fouled by the fuel tank flexi hose on removal is this normal?

The bolt fouling the hose is normal, either drop the beam and arms in 1 lump or remove the hose, hope theres not much fuel in the tank.

Are they drums or discs?

I know on discs you have to take the shoes out then detatch it from the lever assembly in there, and they can be rusted into the arm and come out in bits, replacements are not too expensive though.

Lots of fun removing the hand brake cable from the drum....
Once you have the drum off,if the handbrake linkage is intact and still in place, take a moment or three to remember how all the sodding levers fit to the shoes,if it all falls out when you pull the drum off you will need a Bentley manual to get the bits in the correct place
Handbrake cable enters at the bottom onto a cam, pull it toward you to open the cam and release the roll pin....carefully...it's very small, then the handbrake cable pulls free from the rear of the drum,if you are lucky,if you are unlucky the ferrule will be rusted solid...allow lots of time just in case!
Youth is wasted on the young.
