525e

found a 525e with 79000 miles on the clock and know that these engines are used in the building of a 2.7 for use in a e30 and wondered what the thoughts about the value would be and if there is anybody out there looking for one .
A 525e is a perfectly nice old thing just as it is, but they don't hold an awful lot of value. Like any 80s BM however, if it has genuine low miles, comprehensive maintenance history, low owners and zero rust then it will be worth a considerable premium over a run of the mill example to the right buyer - think more than double.
A low miles eta engine, while generally speaking more desirable to use as a base for a 'stroker' than an average one, won't be worth a great deal more as the mileage is no guarantee as to the condition of the block and crank - it just represents a 'better bet' until it's been pulled apart and inspected for wear.
