Holy cow that is a expensive dash

That sort of thing.

Well,
Let it be known to all aussies, I have a perfect dash in my attic (due to be fitted to mine when there's time) that I'll happily sell for 1,400 AUD. inc. shipping
There again, I suspect that a few other UK zoners would do the same.

Sorry nay but the bloke isn't daft...
what’s the conversion rate anyway? 2.2 or something
so a brand new dash for 500 quid, in a climate (country) that has only a few hundred enthusiasts. Doesn't seem so stupid now to the average entrepreneur. It's like trying to get a new bonnet for a ford falcon over here - cheap as chips in aussi but who wants to pay postage on that!!

Any enthusiast in Aussie would/should know that if a part is hard to find (or expensive) in Australia, then look elsewhere first. It would still work out cheaper to buy a brand new dash from the USA and ship it...
Or much, much cheaper again for a couple of bob from europe/USA (second hand) and post it.
A "near mint" second hand dash is ludicrious. Even if you live in the middle of the saraha dessert or the north pole!
EDIT:
Also, I would rather buy a Ford Falcon bonnet from austrailia for F'all and spend even a few hundred on postage that spend 500-600 quid from a local cowboy.
Seriously think about it.... £500 for an E30 dash with 3 marks on the front... If it was brand new, mint and still in the box it was posted in and all recipts from BMW then that price *might* be justifiable!

If it's 500 quid brand new in the states and this chaps selling one for 500 then aside from the fact it's not brand new (but still a darn sight better than norm) it is still in realms of possibility that someone is going to buy it.
hell it's only a few hundreds for a container from asia so imagine the money he makes from the other 'sure-to-sell' stuff he sells in the meantime while he tries the market with the big stuff

I checked the price of new dashes (before I found a mint one for $120
) and it was only about $1200 or so new from BMW. Not sure where he got his $8K from.
There is a big demand for them here - I would take a guess at less than 10% of E30s have good dashes. Same problem with most early BMWs (E21, E24, E28). Problem seemed to be sorted with E36s.
A mint second hand one for around $600 is pretty common here. This guy is a bozo

Mike, have you considered buying a flocking machine and flocking your dash? this way you can cover up the cracks with black silicone then flock the whole thing?

Anyone investigated the shipping charges to Upside down land?
If the Aussies got their collective act together and told us what they needed,we could ship
out in bulk in a container...

The Auto shop I buy some parts from does this from time to time - a container load of good bits scouted on UK trips. I got a complete sports interior in black / grey this way. The container thing is pretty pricey though - would want to be pretty sure of the returndaimlerman wrote:Anyone investigated the shipping charges to Upside down land?

I believe so. Registrations starting with up to an including "M" will be the first to change, and the rest a month later.SPADGE wrote:Arn't the Irish about to change to LHD?

Importing second hand car parts into most countries that are not for personal use is a nightmare on restrictions, with high import duties and high standards, no rust, no dirt to be imported. A lot of countries, like Mauritius ban any import of car parts unless you have a traders import licence. A container full of old car bits being imported in Oz might be a nightmare, and that guy selling the dash is taking advantage of that fact! Oz authorities wouldn't blink at denying entry, and sending the crate right back where it came from at shippers expense!
Selection of BMW hardtops available, please ask!
