Just trying to decide which aftermarket stainless exhaust too fit. I have been looking at mongoose and scorpion exhausts. Any other options and which is quieter thanks

Why not a custom made one? Search for Powerflow in Google.

Chances are you could have one made and fitted for similar or less money. They usually have lifetime warranties and you can have it as loud or quiet as you want.

I've just had a Powerflow one made fro my M3 by TopGear Racing in Aylesbury...

They've done a decent, tidy job...good welds and fabrication and it fits well, looks OK and isn't too loud or nasty sounding...

Can't say (yet) if it has affected the power output as I haven't had a chance to put it on the rollers...
However, it feels like it may have gained a bit of top-end power at the expense of a bit of mid-range torque.

Powerflow dealers are all franchises so the quality of the work (and the price) will depend on the people actually doing the job...

Zero exhausts.. Fantastic work at reasonable prices.. http://www.zeroexhausts.co.uk

All hand made, tig welded and in 304 stainless.

I'd have used them myself but I was stuck on the driveway and had got halfway through making my own before Dan went and got one for his S50 car.

Ive got a scorpion (STW pipes) and i love it, when its ticking over or just pottering about its no louder than my standard system! (providing its fairly new)

Give it a belting and it sounds gorgeous, very crisp noise and not too boomy.they seem to howl but in a good way!

The problem with custom systems all depends on how good the fitter is, also the tubing isnt mandrel bent its just bent in a press and causes crimping of the pipework and in some cases causes restrictions.

However you wont really gain any more power from an aftermarket system as the standard set up does a very good job.

I have a full sebring system on my touring, have had it now for 9 years, and personally think it's a superb system. Not noisy at all, scrapiron exhausts are a lot louder.

eisenman!!

Stay away with from Scorpian, Milteck and as said Powerflow are ok but being a franchise the work isn't generic and I do know of a few people that have had nothing but grief from his system.

I know its not stainless but Ive got a Supersprint!

I've had a couple of cars with powerflow exhausts and they are rubbish. I know it depends on the fitter but the insides of the silencers don't last, the warranty is only valid if you take it back for regular check and the stainless steel is of a very low grade.

I've got a scorpian on my current E30 at the moment, not had any realy use but seems a far better exhaust than a powerflow effort.

I've got a scorpion mid section on mine and a mix of soft steel BMW and Alpina and it has a very unquie sound ( plenty have commented on how nice it sounds ).

Scorpion systems get mixed reviews but they are a big company and they are normally beatifully made. I sold corkie his back box and the welding is really reasuring. The problem with Scorpion is when the baffles go on them.

If I had the time and money I would get a custom stainless system made up. There are a few places dotted around the UK that do good ones. There is one in sheffield that dose all types and they are uttlerly stunning for quality and percision, but I be buggered if I can remember their name!

I used longlife in London about 5 years ago.

They fitted a SS back box to my Volvo 480 Turbo. What a cock up! The OEM backbox entry pipe goes over the rear axle.

Instead of bending a SS pipe they just got the OEM pipe off the back box cut and welded it to the SS back box.

Give it a few years and the mild steel rusts leaving a useless SS rear box!

I might fit a scorpion but change the tail pipes to something more standard looking. Keep the sleeper look
