I have a 325i sport 1990 sterling silver 87k, obc, a/c fitted but not wired into fuse box, good interior, rear blind not fitted but all parts there and illuminated gear knob.

I have damaged the bonnet, n/s wing, head light (have spare), front valance and scratched the bumper smashed grill.

The car needs the scuttle replacing and outer arches (already replaced the inners. I have these panels.

What should I do. I don't really have the time to play with it anymore as I have a 7 month old baby.

Being honest it would probably cost £2k in a boby shop to make the car mint.

The car has two sets of 15" bbs's 2 year old BMW 2 part exhaust new rubbers m3 wing seals and bumper seals (not fitted) original bmw alarm bilstein b12 suspension.

Should I sell as is or let the insurance company f@@k me?
If I can't fix it I'll f**k it up so bad nobody can!!

Sorry to hear about this mate, can you not keep it and get the work done by a bodyshop?

If you let the insurance company deal with it, it'll be written off for sure, and you probably won't get fook all from them, and whatever they value it at will be minus your excess as well.

You may find someone on here who'll take it off your hands with all the parts, and you should get a reasonable price for it, but with 2k worth of damage, it's not going to be good either way. Keep it!!

I need to change the car anyway because of my baby. To fix the crash damage would be about £500 max but to do scuttle rear arches and make the whole car to mint would be 2k at a pro body shop.

I could break the car but I haven't got the time and it still drives fine so anybody that took it could drive it away no prob.

Don't break it, a low mileage sport should be kept alive IMO.

sell it on here, I'm sure you'll find a buyer. Maybe consider getting the crash damage fixed before selling, but there'll be plenty of zoners who wouldn't be afraid of fixing it up themselves.

I'll give you a pint and a mars bar for it?!!

I think this all has to do with funds. If you're feeling flush then you could just throw it to a decent bodyshop and get it sorted. I'm guessing that you're not feeling that rich with a new baby so I think the only thing to do is get rid and concentrate your other priorities. Hell, if it still has an MOT you could do the scrappage scheme thing before the ticket expires.

A sport is a nice thing, but if the tinworm has a good hold then it is just as doomed as any other E30.

If your prioities are tied elsewhere sell it. You'll make more money breaking it than selling whole. Do you have a place to store it. For 2k I'd mint it up. Store it for a few months and throw what you can comfortably afford into a kitty and when £2k builds up get it sorted. Sport values are on the up :D

Insurance companies will rape you and as I've learnt, dropping back down to no-years no claims is a c*nt.

It has 9 months MOT and has 5 months tax

The best way to do this car would be a reshell I have the new scuttle with chassis number stamped so you could even keep the identity as a sport if you replaced that part on the donor car.

What should I ask for if sold as is with all parts? £1k??

On the insurance side I am fully comp protected but I have £400 excess and on a right off the policy would end loosing me a a further £250 as I only just insured it.

Don't go down the insurance route. I couldn't tell you what it's worth, but I think you'd get a fair price for it on here. I don't think it'd be overpriced if you put it up at £1k though, it's got to be worth a shot?

What? Just put the grills back on and drive it until you've got the time/cash to fix it!

Hahaha, I was expecting the front corner to be properly bent from the way the thread was going!!!

All that needs is a new light and grill and you could straighten the wing and bonnet by just giving it a pull wearing some gloves so the edges don't hurt your hands

Spend an hour or two fixing it on the drive-way and keep it until you are in a better situation to sort it all properly.

Just get some cheap runabout for the family outtings and if not... E30s are actually a good car to keep the baby in the back of :)

I did say it's driveable and I've got a spare head light or 3. I'm getting an e46 320d sport 4dr for the family car but the e30 just seems to want to either take my time or take my money.

325i-Sport and a 320d M-sport will be nice together... until the 320 blows a turbo, lol.

I reckon only sell it if you really have to but definitely don't go the insurance route.

May I suggest that you brace yourself, and then punch yourself relentlessly for about thirty minutes or so?

Call that damage? Done worse hitting moths, the car is lovely man! leave it untill you get a spare few hours to fix it, insurance will pay about £1300 for a £3k car like that.

I have had alot of interest in the car. I think the best thing to do is put it up for sale in the for sale section with pictures of the whole car and list everything it will come with as it's not fair to people who want to buy it not knowing everything and seeing everything first.

I will try and do this tonight but it will take a little while.

Thank you for all the advice and help.

This is the best move you can take if you can't keep hold of the car yourself. Good luck!
