Are my standards to high?

I think finding a Motorsport cab gonna be harder than I thought?
Went to see one yesterday and although mechanically it was 75% fine it just didnt look like a well loved car! And thats the kind of seller Im looking for - someone who loves their car maybe a little to much - but has to let it go. Is that too much to ask?
It was the body work on the cab I saw yesterday that left me a little disappointed - though the guy did tell me it needs a re-spray before [and bloody hell it does], the front bumper really didnt fit right at all! But maybe I shouldn't worry about that kind of thing? If I got some money knocked off, then I could afford to get all that sorted myself. But that scares me!!!
Someone must have a 'REAL' mint one for sale?

A genuine 325 sport cab is really rare mate.
I remember reading in PBMW a few years ago it was rarer than E30 M3 evo sport!!!!
I would expect to pay Ԛ£6000+ in good condition.
I saw one for sale last year, it had been in one of the bm mags, it was mint and in Calypso red with cream leather and it was for sale @ over Ԛ£10K

They have a motorsport convertible for Ԛ£6000 - IIRC, someone here has viewed it!

Cheers Nostrils/Jimbob, proves they are out there innit.
Hillingdon motors - why did they have to lower it [and body colour the kidney grills - though that could be sorted], I must have it 100% standard - its a classic. I been told 100,00 miles aint a problem though?
I've seen that one off Piston Heads [it was the 1st one I went to see], and although it was pretty close to what I wanted, I feel the exterior and interior condition could off been a little better [I've found out that digital pics hide a lot of marks] - and the price he was asking back then ment I wouldn't of had the cash to make those repairs. To the right person, with a little knowledge, that would the perfect car.
Cheers for looking guys - keep it up if you want??!!

Yea soz that's what I meant!Zayyan wrote:Rear lights are pre-facelift:jmc330i wrote:Looks facelift to me.
Some late cabs had pre facelift lights though, didnt they??
Is got an Mtech 2 kit and the coolant bottle is in the right place for a facelift, plus its an H plate.
I know there was/is some confusion about the Motorsport cabs.

alright guys thats my motorsport convertible! thanks for the nice comments only the calypso and mauritius cars had the larger back lights. im thinking about keeping it now cause its too nice to give away cause i think its mint considering its 15 years old and never messed with but it means selling my m3 which i will be gutted about! saying that though i've been out in it today with the top down and it attracts so much attention!!

From what I understand....jmc330i wrote:Some late cabs had pre facelift lights though, didnt they??

The facelift for the cabs was when the E36 saloons first appeared.
Until then they all had the pre-facelift rear lights and bumpers although after the E30 saloons had their facelift, the chrome on the bumpers of the cabs was painted black.
BMW did fit the Tech II kit to the pre-facelift cabs for some Motorsport convertibles though, but I thought they were still regarded as pre-facelift due to the rear lights.

Personally i don't think your standards are too high as you naturally always want the best you can find. However i don't think you'll find a concours motor for reasonable money. I think that there will still be a few jobs you'll want to do though to get it up to your standards. Just finishing mine off after a 3 month strip/clean/replace of all worn bits. Before hand it looked fine, just me being meticulous like yourself. Mauritius/Lotus white too..sorry not for sale though. Best getting the best you can find and spending a bit to get it totally A1/concours, Brettski's motorsport looks really nice and about as best you're gonna find (for one that actually gets used).
BTW there is a mauritius blue hardtop in the parts section which would be worth buying if that's the colour you're hoping to end up with.
Good luck & keep searching, no point getting an alternative as the one you really want then turns up!
Andy.

Sounds really nice, if you like it buy it. Get BMW to check VIN number for peace of mind though. It seems that there was a string of earlier motorsport cabs, it's just that the real adverising/promotional thing didn't really start until the tech 2's arrived. I remember my mate's cousin buying a brand new tech 2 in Macau blue back in 1990/91. "One day...." i said at the time and 81/2 yrs later I did. 6 yrs on and i still buzz off it.

Andy.

I am also on the hunt for one but im not to bothered if it is standard, I went to see one the weekend it looked nice in the picture but when i got there the interior was grubby holes in the centre console where the previous owner had stuff and then taken it out.
I was told it had been in Max power or something, i think when this guy brought it the previous guy must of had it stripped was a shame as i would of brought it had it been in better nick!!!
Oh yeah he wanted 5500 for it and there was lights on the dash saying check and he said it had done 10k less miles that it did in the ad. Real shame these are classics.
