it would but then again you cannot get design cabs with proper engines and people probably want that so.......

i would keep it as is, sell it and buy one with a 2.5 :)

I reckon it would devalue as it's not going to be in original/factory condition :)

Like Alex said, if you want more power, buy another one 8)

Is it neon green or neon blue?

It will be a classic, but only the original ones will be worth the best money.

Well if they are going to be worth "good money"in the future, the only way you are going to see it, is by sticking with the original spec imo. These were a motorsport excercise, when new, after all !

It will devalue the car yes. But a 316i/318i will never be 325i/Sport money.

TBH, you'll probably only get what the shell is worth as time goes on... as consistantly spending money on a 316i/318i to keep her running well and looking well will cost more than the value difference if the car was molestered. Only genuine sports and good factory spec 325i's will build up the value considerably within the next 5-10 years.

For someone who knows what they're on about when looking for these cars knows that the shell is the most important part and having a mint neon blue shell will attract people who want to reshell anyway, so will pay you a similar price M40 or M20.

Either way, buying a factory 325i and spending the hard earned on it will be the more finacially wise move. 8)

I intend to restore my neon green cabbie to a 'stock' apperance as far as possible.
But I shall be transplanting my M20 2.7 into it so that it goes as well as it looks.
Current issues include centre seat fabric,in an ideal world I would like to replace the centre panels on the drivers seat but the fabric is now NLA,if anyone has good neon green centres or a good rear seat that I can molest I can collect and will pay cash for.
If any of you know off,or work for a place that makes fabric in small quantities I can provide a sample for matching.
To the OP,I have a very good neon blue rear seat spare, matching very good door cards and some spare neon blue centre panel fabric, contact me if it's any use to you!

2.7 esign cab would actually in my opinion fetch more money than a standard one in classic time to the right buyer lol.

Ah! A zoner after my own heart!
Older cars are built to be 'played with',I try to follow the PPC magazine principle of 'no bodykit,no big speakers and no bullshite!' when playing with mine.
I can still appriciate the effort that goes into other people's creations, though.May not be my taste, but what the hell....
