I use one on the 2.7 and it has made the top end better, but lost low down torque.

I know someone on the zone actually dynod all the different filter you could get. The standard BMW one with a high quality panel filter is by far the best you can do. One guy did a massive mod to fit an M3 one and only gained 3bhp!

You need to spend a fair few readies to get any gains. Big borae throttle body ,6 branch manifold, good exhuast system are the more logical methods.

End of the day down to eprsonal tastes , different air boxes and filter will change the feel to the car and change the note. They tend to feel more spikey with the power and make a loud rumble.

Dont get an induction kit without doing other things or it will be a pointless waste of money, as they are quite expense, and even £50 is too much for no improvement.

A Big bore throttle body with a 6 branch etc will require your car to breath some more, then the advantages of having one come into play. But if your planning on these parts then go for it. All decent company's closed air induction kits are pretty damn similar, so go for it. Also, if its in good condition, a clean of the filter and you'll be set, and it'll save you a fair wack off the price of one new. Good induction kits have good filters that can be cleaned easily or even replaced easily.

Just dont expect any "improvements"... maybe a slightly increased roar. Some people on other cars (not sure about BMW's/E30s) but you can mod or remove the AFM and have a more direct air flow. In my old Fiesta 1.6 that made a difference, but again not much. Nice noise... (for a 17y.o)

as had been said above they are only worth while going for if you go down the bbtb 6 branch & full system route to let the engine breath a bit deeper.

just wait a while & some one will pop up & say don't do it but it's all down to personal choice at the end of the day.

but £50?? thats cheap is it's in a "as new" state.

if you go for it just remember to keep your original airbox incase you want to go back to standard.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

i saw a test on these induction kits, all the brands, k&n, apexi, viper, pipercross, green filter, hks, greedy and many more. they tested the power gains, the ease of maintaining/cleaning and the actual filtration of the filter/s.

THEY'RE ALL RUBBISH, the dust that gets through the filters compared to the standard filter on a car is shocking, they basically DON'T filter the air.

out of all the filters that where tested Apexi let the least particals through and was one of the cheaper ones.

if your after a better sound, put 4 or 5 '1inch' holes in the airbox.
