Hi guys,

Was looking at putting a weber conversion on my 316 carb auto as the pierburg is pretty crap to be honest, have to wait for like 10mins in the morning on a cold start before driving the car otherwise it will stall as the auto choke doesnt seem to be working, so was looking at fitting a manual choke weber, question is where is the best place to mount the manual choke system inside the car, and has anyone got any pictures of this, got some other bits to do first on her though, have just replaced a front wing that was rusted all the way through and am now working on the rear arches to get rid of all the rust, also what benefits can i see of installing the weber apart from ability to drive without stalling on cold days?

any help will be appreciated

kind regards

will

I fitted my choke in the panel above the pedals and below the steering wheel but you need to strengthen the back with a piece of thin ali glued on the back or it pulls through. Benefits if the Weber are better economy and cleaner acceleration.

Dont put it in that panel, they are expensive and sought after, fit it in the panel under the clocks as this can easily be changed in the future

You can just see it on mine above the indicator stalk, behind the steering wheel spoke

If you can wait till next Saturday I can take the one off my car,its fitted onto the steering cowling on the left hand side with a metal bracket in black. The cable is in good condition as well, will do you a swap if its any good to you I won't be needing it seen as its getting swapped to a injection.Might have the carb as well if the garage has not already scrapped it.

Your cowling, mine has the bracket and cable attached so will be needing one without it basically a bottom cowling section with no holes or cracks. Will let you know about the carb when I find out if its still there. If you are interested pm me your number and I will give you a ring next week when I am at the garage.

Thats the one lewes prison. As I said if you pm your number I will give you a ring when I am at the garage next saturday(16th).The cowling will not affect your car in any way its just a plastic surround/cover that goes around the steering column so you would be able to drive with out it.Will post some pics of the one I have when I get down there just to make sure its what you want.
