I was just looking for a slightly bigger convertible after selling my 1965 MGB Roadster,
and getting more than a little pissed off with my Xr3i electrics failing.
Took a chance on the cab i now own, after spotting it on ebay. Best move i,ve ever made. :D

Now i own my lovely 325i tourer , a lot of people dont like the colour (malachite green) buty i do :)
I have loved these cars since i was 10ish i used to see all the debt collectors/cocaine dealers driving them and thought "That looks so cool"
Only had my tourer for about a month now but im absolutly loving the 6 pot rightness
I like it when im sitting at the traffic lights with another BMW but newer and only 1.8 or something and i piss all over them, Their face is a picture :)
And you cant beat the stares people (birds) give when you are sitting in traffic and the engine is bubbling over winkeye

I bought my first E30 after driving my mates 525i 12v,it made me realise how well built the BMW's of that time were,i had been an avid Ford fan, sierra's escorts and a granada.

My E30 was a 316 1.8 carb so wasnt the fastest car in the world, but even with 175k on the clock it didnt have any squeaks or rattles and the doors shut with a clunk rather than a rattle!

I came across the 323i by default really,my mate needed rid as he had managed to buy his 635csi back from the insurance company,he never really loved the 323i and as a result of that he only put 100 miles on it in two years!
Only paid £100 so had a result really, dont think i will sell now, doesnt really owe me much and is a tidy old car with only a few jobs to do (dont they all!)

My current E30 is a toy really,i have a new Mondeo as a daily so only use the E30 at the weekend when the sun shines :)

My uncle. 1989 F reg 318i saloon 4 door. Not that special but it was when I got inside.

Angled dashboard, arcade-style accelerator pedal, the whole "Ultimate Driving Machine" slogans in the 80's......joined the BMW car club when a little older, read the mags...and the rest is history.

After some British rubbish (minis and Novas) I seemed to 'progress' to owning a lot of Fench sh1t (106 Rallye S1 and S2, Clio 16v and Clio Williams) and then I bought a mk2 Golf GTI.

This was a pretty disapointing car after the preceding sporty stuff, BUT, the feeling of quality in comparison was brilliant!
Then went on to a mk3 Golf GTI which was truly poor, Corrado G60 and then a Bora (to commute 80 miles a day in).

Then bought an E46 318i Saloon and although it was a slug, it just felt and looked right.

Not sure whether its an age thing for me, but my cars have all felt great at the time, I suppose an E30 is just a point in time thing for me.

I've just loved them since I was a kid - my grandfather had a succession of BMWs, including an e12 5-series, e23 728i, e24 628CSi, culminating in an E-reg e30 318i when he retired, also a mate of mine's Mum had a 2dr, whch thinking back on it, could have been a tech1 sport.

When I was in my teens, another's mate's dad got a red 325i touring - he saw me walking down the road on the day he got it and stopped just to show it off - I'd probably met him once before at the time, but he was obviously just so pleased with it he wanted to show anyone who'd look!

They just look cool, they combine all the things I like in cars - simple 3-box shape (the saloons!), quad lamps, RWD. After serving the 'expensive insurance apprenticeship' in a succession of 1.2 Clios, when I was 25 I bought the moredoor, unseen off ebay. When I went to pick it up, I just couldn't believe how mint it was, and how absurdly good the history file was - it might be a beige, 4dr 320i, but I just love it and it's definitely a keeper. Other cars will come and go, but I'm determined that that one is hanging around!

There were a few iconic German cars from the 80s - e30 325i, Golf GTI, Audi Quattro Turbo, 'whaletail' 911 (even the 928 - remember Risky Business?)- and they all seemed to leave an impression on me as a small boy. I guess it's the combined reputation of pace and over-engineering that somehow shaped my young mind - if I had the time, space and money for a proper car collection, I think I'd have examples of them all (next to all the other old junk I still covet - Capris, Elans, Interceptors, Alfas..... Ooh, Rover SD1.... I could go on ad nauseam).

This has turned into a monster post - sorry if I've bored you all! :D

I got my 325i because theres not many cars u can buy for less than a grand that will be:
Rwd, fun, look good and fairly cheap to maintain with pleny of spare parts.
4 months of owning it and i cant see why i'd want another car, more fun than the xr2's, 3's and pug gti's ive had.
My daughter is 4 yrs old and goes in a mood wen i use the '03' plate mazda 323f sport. She says ' I want to go in the beemer' and my 10yr old boy always asks me to kick the back end out going round islands, and thats got nowt to do with the gangster coolness of a black e30.

Rover SD1? Oh yeah man. I'd have one of them! My old boy had 2 rover 22tc's which were pretty cool but I do love the SD1 for some benign reason.

I took an old E30 to an engine specialist near me to sort out the sheared exhaust manifold nuts. Whilst I was there I noticed a rusty SD1 outside which looked like it hadn't moved in a while. When I asked him about it, I was a bit embarassed when he informed me that it was his daily driver!

He then popped the bonnet and underneath was the most gleaming rover V8 I have ever seen. He'd had the engine for ages and just kept changing the shell when they got too rusty.

I was always loving the RWD and had a series of Escort RS2000s but they were becoming too rare and nice to rip up villages with and came across my first 325iSE when I was 20 then moved onto a nice tech2 sport....had a break then 7 years ago bought my M3 which I still have and unless I get a good offer I wont get rid of.

Mrs86's dad. He offered me his very tidy e36 318i. I was going to buy it but Mrs86's very badge concious sister demanded her boyfriend got to buy it instead. So I started to look round other cars again, but began to come back to bmws. Then my e30 came up on auto trader with virtually no details on it but only 2 miles away. So I popped down and had a look and left with my e30.

Walking home from school in 1988 got me into E30's and BMW's as a whole.

I used to walk down a busy main road on my way to and from school and on the way back one summers day (probably has something to do with feeling good at the time) I heard a bellow behind me. Turns out it was a new, two door 325 in a cheeky silver (probably Lachs - didn't know the colour schemes back then) blasting past me. Obviously a happy owner exercising his new car. The sound was fantastic.

He shot back the other way about 10 minutes later, so I got to see the front end properly. 4 headlamps with wipers were unassailably cool to a 13 year old. I'd seen them on the road prior to that moment, but I didn't look at them until then.

That's the moment I realised I needed to learn how to drive. I badgered my mother into teaching me in her MK II Cavalier on some local wasteground until she eventually gave in. Bless her.

I havent got a clue what draws me to them! My first e30 was a 4 pot tourer, not a mark on it except one tiny little scab on the door off a stone chip left untreated. I then went through 4 e36 or maybe it was 5 I cant remember, but although they were comfortable to drive, they were nothing like the e30. I think they lacked character or something I dont know. When you're driving an e30, you know you're driving an e30. Then I got my current 2 door 325i and tbh, other cars will come and go through the years, but this one is going nowhere. Unless I get carried away and write it off
